Some books go straight to the top of my TBR pile the minute I bring them home.
Others…well…they just sit there for years while shiny new releases keep cutting in line.

Swipe through, and check the caption under each slide for my (I think) very reasonable explanations. 😂

📚 Queen Bee by Dorothea Benton Frank
Time in TBR pile: 7 years.
But this one’s different.

It’s the final Dorothea Benton Frank novel before she passed away. I think part of me has been saving it because once I finish it, there won’t be another new Dorothea Benton Frank summer book waiting for me.

📚 The Newcomer by Mary Kay Andrews
Time in TBR pile: 4 years

I love Mary Kay Andrews, and seasonal reading is my jam.
I have no excuse.

📚 Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather Webber
Time in TBR pile: 3 years

My mom bought this for me the first time I took her to Sweet Home Books in Alabama, so it has a special memory attached to it.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, and somehow it still keeps getting bumped down the pile every time a shiny new release comes home with me.

This might finally be the summer I read it. 🤞

📚 Swan Song by Elin Hilderbrand
Time in TBR pile: 2 years

One of the last books I bought from Sweet Home Books before moving to Tennessee.

It’s also Elin Hilderbrand’s final Nantucket summer novel.

Those two reasons make it hard to “crack the spine” on this one.
Sometimes books become special reminders of a season of life you’re not quite ready to leave behind.

📚 A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston
Time in TBR pile: 2 years

This one has no business still being in my TBR pile.

It was the very first book I bought after moving to Tennessee. Between packing, unpacking, and trying to settle into a new house, I never felt like I could give it the attention it deserved.

Then enough time passed that it somehow kept getting skipped for the next shiny new release.

I don’t have a good excuse anymore.
I absolutely love Ashley Poston, so this one deserves to move to the top of the stack.

📚 The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
Time in TBR pile: 1.5 years

No great story here. I bought it, put it on my shelf…and there it sits. 😅 In spite of being one of the mos

Spent the day celebrating Sweet Home Books’ 5th Birthday in the charming town of Wetumpka, Alabama! 🎉📚

I had the best time meeting readers, making new friends, sharing stories, and signing my book The Medici Curse.

Then they sent me home with this incredible bag full of goodies. Seriously… look at all this! ✨🎁

Take a peek inside.

Thank you, Sweet Home Books for making me feel so much at home in your delightful shop!
