Me and @adornmurals were gobsmacked!! Btw, this was all in good fun and you can do what you want with your mural! But like also, don’t 😅😂😍 We’re big fans of Syd Bloom over here! Clients often ask me how long their mural will take to paint. A few things that make a big difference: Wall texture. Drywall = ❤️. Stucco or paneling? Wayyy slower. Weather. Rain, lighting, heat waves. It can cause delays. Colors. Colors like oranges, reds, or yellows require 4+ coats. Most colors just need 2-3. The design itself. A simple design on a smooth wall might be quick. But a detailed design on a rough surface? See the last slide! Typically, I advise clients to book with me at least a few months in advance. That way I can finish up my current projects, have 2-3 weeks for the design and revisions, then 2-3 weeks for mural installation. It might be faster but I’m always accounting for the unexpected. (And if you’re an aspiring mural artist reading to learn more about the process, follow my creative advice account over at @asthepaintdries_ !)

Some people don’t realize this, but mural designs don’t have to live on just one wall! They can be licensed. Which basically means the artwork gets rented out to exist in other places, helping create a more cohesive, recognizable brand. For this apothecary project, the mural didn’t stop at the wall. It was extended into their product line, becoming part of how people interact with the brand every day. For artists, it’s a way to create more sustainable income from work you’ve already made. For businesses, it’s a way to build something that feels thoughtful, immersive, and consistent. Follow @asthepaintdries_ to check out all the tips I share for creatives!
