Kennt ihr dieses Kribbeln, wenn dunkle Wolken aufziehen und ihr gerade noch rechtzeitig ins Trockene kommt? Eine Mischung aus Aufregung, Angst und Erleichterung! 🌩️

Genau das erleben zwei Geschwister, die auf einer Insel am Meer leben. Obwohl sich ein Sturm ankündigt, laufen sie noch einmal zur Küste, durch den Ort und den Wald. Wie lange können sie draußen bleiben, bevor das Unwetter losbricht?

Mich hat dieses Bilderbuch sehr begeistert! Brian Floca erzählt mit kurzen, klaren Sätzen und aus der Ich-Perspektive. So spürt man die Neugier, den Übermut und schließlich auch die Angst der Kinder. Und natürlich die Erleichterung, als sie endlich wieder im schützenden Zuhause ankommen. 💙

Besonders beeindruckt haben mich die Illustrationen von Sydney Smith. 🎨 Mit kräftigen Farben, Aquarell und Gouache fängt er die Stimmung vor und während des Sturms wunderbar ein. Mal füllen die Bilder ganze Doppelseiten, mal zeigen schmale Bildstreifen, wie schnell das Abenteuer voranschreitet. Der Text tritt dabei oft in den Hintergrund, denn die Bilder erzählen selbst so viel!

Das Buch bietet außerdem viele Gesprächsanlässe: über Angst vor Gewittern, Mut und Übermut, Geschwister und die faszinierende Kraft der Natur.

📖 Mein Fazit: Ein wunderschönes, intensives Bilderbuch, das Spannung und Geborgenheit verbindet. Ich empfehle es ab etwa 5 Jahren, da die düstere Atmosphäre jüngere Kinder vielleicht erschrecken könnte.
