In the second episode of the Women in Architecture series, I sit down with architect and business owner @lizzsyd about her journey navigating the second year of running her own business @sydnordesign

Liz reflects on the growth and lessons she’s experienced, including the importance of letting go of certain roles to protect her well-being and the ongoing challenge of finding balance between work and personal life.

Our conversation highlights the power of networking as more than professional connections—it’s about building genuine community and support. Liz also shares insights from her upcoming book, which is designed to empower women in architecture by opening conversations around vulnerability, authenticity, and mental health in the profession.

Together, we discuss how authenticity creates stronger relationships, why consistency matters in networking, and how embracing the realities of the profession—from showing emotion in the workplace to architecture’s influence on all aspects of design—helps foster resilience and growth.

This year, I’m welcoming back past guests whose stories were still unfolding. Their journeys in architecture have continued to evolve, and I couldn’t wait to check back in to hear what’s new.

A common theme you’ll hear throughout the series: navigating burnout, learning to say “no,” and the power of community—both personally and professionally.

I can’t wait for you to tune in and be inspired by these incredible women!

Branding photos should feel like you: your energy, your process, your quiet brilliance.

@sydnordesign is an architect, designer, and creative through and through. Photographing her in a way that felt honest, grounded, and not at all stiff was the goal. The result?

Effortless. Elevated. So her.

If you’ve been putting off a branding session because you’re worried about looking awkward or overly posed, this is your reminder: it doesn’t have to be that way.

Got to do an in-home session with Nate, Liz, and their pup Rey, and it was such a joy.

Their place is hands down one of the cutest I’ve ever seen, full of warmth, charm, and thoughtful little details.

You can definitely tell two architects live there.

Liz @sydnordesign also designed my website and helped bring my branding to life, so getting to photograph her little family felt extra special.

More like this, always please 🖤
