This past weekend, I told the world about how much of a liar I am, and it was…. Beautiful. ❤️‍🔥

~
This piece means so much to me. It was scary, vulnerable, personal, and most of all it was me. A side of me even my best friends didn’t know about. And on Friday night, in front of friends, family, and strangers, I let them all see me. Every laugh, every sniffle, every hug after the show, I thank you all for seeing me. For coming to know my truth and holding me closer because of it. Thank you to every collaborator who witnessed the evolution of this piece. To @rednoseprof for being the fierce director. To @symonnesparks for taking on so much responsibility of this show when you did not have to. To @triciach479 for stage managing and doing it flawlessly. To @blkouttheatreproject for mounting the world premiere of my show.

And to my mom, for loving me no matter what ❤️‍🔥.

Stay tuned baby, cause this isn’t the last you’ll see of my show. We are just getting started! (Maybe not though, I told you I was a liar remember?)

Blood Red was yet another smashing success

Thank you to every artist, performer, and audience member who trusted us with your time, your presence, and your art. The entire purpose of this salon is to create space for work that challenges, inspires, provokes, and reflects the communities we’re cultivating and every person who shared their voice helped make that vision a reality.

A special congratulations to @gabe.dreamz , whose debut performance of Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire culminated in a standing ovation that lasted over three minutes. Watching a room full of people connect so deeply with a piece of new work is exactly why we do this.

Huge thanks as well to @theunderstudychi and especially @itsjett.xo for trusting us with your remarkable space and collaborating every step of the way to help bring this evening to life

What’s most exciting is the community that formed around every single piece of art that was shared. Blood Red reminded us that there is still a hunger for bold, inconvenient, deeply human art, and we’re honored to help create a home for it. Thank you @dreamlikedestiney for sharing as well as capturing these amazing moments 🎥

Keep an eye out for exciting updates from BlkOut Theatre Project

And yes, another Blood Red Salon is absolutely on the horizon. 🩸🖤
