"If Netflix made a documentary about something I know... it would be called How to Survive... and Then Thrive.

Not because my story is the hardest, but because it's proof that your past doesn't get the final say.

I've learned that healing isn't linear. Leadership isn't about having a perfect life. And resilience isn't something you're born with—it's something you build, one choice at a time.

Now my mission is simple: help others realize they are not defined by what happened to them, equip leaders to create spaces where people can heal and grow, and help the next generation do more than just survive... help them thrive.

Because when one person chooses hope, the ripple effect can change families, communities, and generations.

✨ What's something you know enough about that Netflix could make a documentary on?

My silent Lord, as You lay in the tomb, You opened the gates of Paradise. On this night of silent anticipation, fill me with hope, especially when I am tempted to despair. Jesus, I trust in You.

Let us take this last night to prepare our hearts for the resurrection of the Lord.

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Syracuse continues the tradition of the Blessing of the Food on Holy Saturday!

Święconka (sh-vee-en-soon-kah) is the cherished Polish tradition of blessing Easter baskets on Holy Saturday. Wicker baskets filled with symbolic foods—eggs, bread, sausage, salt, and horseradish—are lined with white linen, decorated with boxwood (bukszpan), and brought to church for a priest to bless, signifying the end of Lent.

Key Elements of the Polish Easter Basket:
- Eggs (Pisanki): Symbolize new life, fertility, and Christ’s resurrection.
- Bread (Chleb): Represents the "Bread of Life" (Jesus) and abundance.
- Lamb (Baranek): Often made of sugar or butter, it represents Christ as the Lamb of God.
- Salt: Symbolizes purification, preservation, and truth.
- Horseradish/Pepper: Represents the bitter passion of Christ.
- Sausage/Meat: Signifies health, prosperity, and the end of the fast.
- Cake/Babka: A sweet treat symbolizing skills and success.

Tradition Details:
- When: The blessing takes place on Holy Saturday (Wielka Sobota).
- Decoration: Baskets are traditionally decorated with greenery (boxwood) and white ribbons.
- Usage: The blessed food is saved and eaten during a special breakfast on Easter Sunday morning.
- Cultural Significance: This custom, which dates back centuries in Poland, is a deeply ingrained family tradition that brings together faith and community.

Annual Discipleship Group Barn Mass - thank you to the Martin family for hosting us!

The inspiration for this night can be traced back 20 years ago this month. Youth Minister Mark Ranieri and his wife, Nina, went to a @sunygeneseo Newman Center Barn Mass at a nearby dairy farm on a cold December night in December 2005. Special shout out to Geneseo Newman Center priest there at the time who organized it, Fr. Pat Connor (currently Pastor at St. Isidore in Addison, NY) - who was raised on a dairy farm. It was a simple, quiet night that profoundly shaped Mark and Nina’s approach to ministry. Since that time, the “Barn Mass” has successfully evangelized young and old alike in Mark and Nina’s former parish at Our Lady Of Lourdes, Utica and now @spiritofhopecatholic . Fr. Pat’s vision 20 years ago has gone on to bear great fruit!

Life can feel like a balloon stomp: loud, chaotic, and unpredictable…

But your foundation doesn’t have to be. Jesus is the solid ground.

More fun at @spiritofhopecatholic faith formation!
