When I took my first photo with camera that wasn't my phone around 5 years ago, a goal I had was to get a Big Moon over Philadelphia photo one day. Now, probably tens of thousands of shots later, I think I was able to get a pretty good one. I know I'm gonna be chasing that perfect shot for the rest of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Very grateful to the legendary @t.do___ for the heads up and insights he's given, the game wouldn't be the same if not for the artists I get to work with and learn from.

Reposting because the moon being off-center in the last upload was slowly destroying my soul. 😂🫎🌕

What you don’t see is everything it took to get this shot.

We rented the lens. The weather kept changing. We got sent to the wrong side of the river. We got kicked out of the original location. Somehow ended up hanging out with Tom and Adam along the way. Then, as we were walking into the backup spot… the moon started rising.

It was an absolute shit show.

But we adapted. We showed up. We made the shot.

That’s what matters.

Thanks for the memories, July. 🫎🌕

Nestled within the sprawling forests of Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, this iconic Lebanon Fire Tower has stood tall since the 1930s, serving as a vigilant guard over the dense woodlands of the Pine Barrens. 🏞️ Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), it was one of many fire towers erected to help spot forest fires early in an era before modern technology. With its distinct red and white structure rising above the treetops, the Lebanon Fire Tower still provides essential lookout services for fire detection, especially during the dry seasons.

👀 Did you know? New Jersey has a network of fire towers, each with its own story, preserving an era of forest management rooted in community vigilance and environmental protection. If you’re exploring the Pine Barrens, look out for this landmark and appreciate its enduring legacy!

The aurora lit the sky with ease,
But I ended up with thorns down my knees. True Story!

My brain is still trying to comprehend what it witnessed tonight.

If you haven't yet. Meet Big Rusty! 🦾 This massive sculpture sits at an abandoned factory in Hainesport, NJ, and is the creation of artist Thomas Dambo. 🌎 Dambo is known worldwide for his towering trolls made entirely from recycled materials. For Big Rusty, he used materials found on-site, including rusted metal, wood, and wiring, which you can see him 'munching on' in these photos. 🍴

To visit Big Rusty, head to the 1404 NJ-38, Hainesport, NJ 08036. While there, make sure to follow the signs and avoid climbing on the sculpture to keep it safe for others to enjoy. Dambo's art isn’t just about creating something amazing out of trash; it’s about reconnecting with nature and reminding us of the beauty of repurposing materials. ♻️
