With the retirement of @lufthansa A340-600s, I thought I’d post my one and only flight on the A340-600. This beauty ferried me 2/3 the way home from a recent trip to Europe and I am so grateful that I got the chance to fly on this aircraft a few days before it got retired. Date of Flight: 14 October 2026 Aircraft: A340-642 Callsign: LH400 Route: Frankfurt - New York JFK Flight Time: 08:08 Registration: D-AIHX Age: 17 years The A340-600 is equipped with 4 Rolls-Royce Trent 556 turbofan engines, each producing approximately 56,000 pounds of thrust per engine and it was the longest commercial aircraft - until Boeing built the 747-8 - at 75.27 meters long (246 ft 11 in). The wingspan is 63.45 meters (208 ft 2 in) and the height is 17.29 meters (56 ft 9 in). The maximum takeoff weight of the jet is 811,300 pounds, with a maximum cruising altitude of 41,300 feet and a maximum range of 8,020 miles. The Airbus A340-600 was built before ETOPS requirements were up to the standards they are today. When it was first built, commercial aircraft were required to have 3 or more engines to be legally able to fly over the ocean. Fast forward to today, ETOPS requirements allow for twin-engine jets like the 737, A330, etc. to make these oceanic crossings with just 2 engines. Class of Service: Premium Economy Seat: 25K (Bulkhead Row) There are 28 seats in the Premium Economy cabin in a 2-3-2 layout. The seat width is 19 inches, seat pitch is 38 inches and the seat recline is 8 inches. The downstairs lavatories is one of the main features of the A340-600 that sets it apart from any other commercial aircraft. The A340-600 was a part of @lufthansa for 23 years as it joined their fleet in 2003. One of the last landings in New York JFK for the A340-600. The flight deck of the A340-600. And with that, the 346 season comes to an end. Under cheering, shouting, and applause, we stood at the T5 Parking Garage, bidding farewell to a legend aircraft the way it deserved. My first farewell and wing wave. Super grateful to have witnessed this heartwarming experience. And away with the wind, she will go We’re just a few hours away from bidding farewell to the last of the legendary chorizos from regular, passenger service. Lufthansa, for some reason, decided to retire all of their A346s in the new livery first, and kept the their remaining 4 old livery-airframes until tomorrow ®️: #DAIHI ✈️: @airbus A340-600 🔊: @rollsroycegroup Trent 500 🗓: 9-22-2025 ⏰: 13:25 🛫🛬: @frankfurtairport - @t1jfk 📷📸: Canon EOS 90D, EF70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM #A340 #A346 #A340600 #A340lovers

Our WAI members had the incredible opportunity to get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the construction and development of the New Terminal One at JFK 🛫 We began the experience with a briefing on the current project, safety, and some of the challenges operations professionals have faced since development began. We had the chance to ask questions, connect with industry professionals, and explore the plans for the future of JFK 🌟 Overall, it was an amazing and insightful experience, and we are so grateful to the staff at New Terminal One who helped make this event possible 🤍 And, for some of our members, this was their first time getting a behind-the-scenes look at the management, operations, tactics, and processes that support an international airport. We’re thankful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and see the future of aviation firsthand! #jfkairport #womeninaviation
