Thank you to Brooklyn Children’s Museum and all sponsors, volunteers, families, facilitators, vendors, partners, and community members who made our the first ever Children’s Food Festival cohosted by Brooklyn Children’s Museum such a meaningful celebration.

As we honor 10 years of our food distribution cooperative, we’re filled with gratitude for everyone seen and unseen who have believed in this work and stayed committed to our mission. Together, we’ve helped build a stronger local food system that centers uplifting Black, BIPOC and Queer farmers, families, Business Owners and neighbors while continuing to advocate for food justice, equitable and abundant access to nourishing food.

Here’s to the next decade because we have so much more in store! (See what we did there, stay tuned for our new retail space grand opening and more programming this Fall) Thank you for growing with us. 🌱

Summer is in full swing and it’s time to go to the beach if you are not already there. Taper candles are an important part of any beach day. Have fun!

The countdown is ON for the Brooklyn Children’s Food Festival, and this year’s lineup is one for the books!

From hands-on cooking demos and gardening workshops to interactive food activities, local farmers, artists, chefs, youth organizations, and community vendors. There’s something for every curious young mind (and every grown-up who loves them). 💚

Whether you’re a:
-Teacher looking for a fun educational outing
-Parent or caregiver searching for meaningful family activities
-Youth organizer building stronger communities
-Educator inspiring the next generation
-Neighbor who believes every child deserves access to healthy food and joyful learning...

This festival was made with YOU in mind.

Food is what we eat, it’s culture, history, creativity, health, and community. When our children get their hands in the soil, learn where food comes from, and meet the people growing and preparing it, we’re planting seeds that last a lifetime.

✨ Swipe through to check out all of this year’s incredible workshops and vendors.

We’ll see you at the festival!

It’s vegetable o’clock ⏰🍅

When I started Vitamin Color, I wanted to build a world around vegetables.

What I didn’t realise was that vegetables would open up so many worlds to me in return. Design. Photography. Objects. Installations. Painting. Storytelling. New collaborations. New cities. New people.

I’ve always loved vegetables. Realising that not everyone felt the same way - and wanting to change that - is what started it all.

I became obsessed with making the world fall in love with vegetables. What I didn’t expect was where that obsession would take me.

And yet, I feel like this journey is only just beginning.

A squeeze of Vitamin C to survive February 🫧

The Vitamins calendar created in collaboration with @tabea.mathern features twelve fully hand-built still lifes where everyday objects are reimagined through vegetables: a celebration of food, color and form. In February, we celebrate winter‘s greatest gift: citruses 🍊🍋

Garden Chair & Mushroom Lamp 🍄🍃

After seeing the mushroom lamp absolutely EVERYWHERE, creating one with real mushrooms felt like a must. I read somewhere that mushroom lamps made a big comeback during the pandemic because when we were all stuck inside, people started redecorating their homes with elements inspired by the outdoors. Whether this theory is true or not, I decided to double down on the idea of bringing the outside inside and create a chair that looks like a garden.

An edible eyeshadow palette 🎨

The original image was made with real vegetables.
For the Vitamins calendar event at @openspace.berlin with @tabea.mathern , I reinterpreted it by hand - painting an eyeshadow-palette-like food display inspired by the same nine fruits and vegetables.

Each color became a bite, made from the ingredient it sat on - a closed loop between image and ingredient.

Food as image. Image as taste.
