What an incredible Back-to-School celebration! The Westchester Square BID would like to thank everyone who came out and helped make this event so special.
This year’s celebration was even more meaningful as we proudly celebrated the 3rd Anniversary of La Jara Band Way!
Three years of honoring its legacy and celebrating the culture, music, and community spirit that bring us together.
A huge thank you to our community partners, elected officials, local businesses, volunteers, NYPD, sponsors, and everyone who contributed their time and support. Most importantly, thank you to all the families and children who joined us!
Seeing our community come together is what makes Westchester Square so special. We are proud to continue creating events that support our families, celebrate our community, and bring our neighbors together.
Wishing all of our students a safe, successful, and amazing school year!

Part 3 of At the Table: Conversations in School-Based Health is here.
In this final installment, Sarah Goldberg, Director of the NY School-Based Health Foundation, Chitara Waiters, UHP’s Senior Director of Adolescent and School Health Services, and Dr. Elizabeth Etienne, UHP’s Supervising Physician for School-Based Health, discuss why protecting and strengthening SBHCs is so crucial.

What’s at stake? Students’ Free Access to:
• Primary Care
• Dental Services
• Mental Health Support
• Social Services

For many students, this is their only access to vital care.

School-Based Health Centers may be one of public health’s best-kept secrets. Let’s change that!

Watch the full video, tell your family and friends, share it with your network, and help us spread the word about why SBHCs matter!

The conversation continues, so pull up a seat at the table!

In honor of School-Based Health Awareness Month, we’re back with Part 2 of our video series, School-Based Health Centers: At the Table, where Sarah Goldberg, Director of the NY School-Based Health Foundation, joins Chitara Waiters, Senior Director of Adolescent and School Health Services at Urban Health Plan, and Dr. Elizabeth Etienne, Supervising Physician for School-Based Health to discuss what comprehensive care really looks like for students.

SBHCs offer medical, dental, behavioral health, and social services while students are at school in a safe, trusted environment, which means less stress for families, healthier kids, and more time focused on learning!

In observance of School-Based Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to share School-Based Health Centers: At the Table, a video series highlighting how school-based health centers (SBHCs) support students, families, and communities.

In this first installment, Access to Care, Sarah Goldberg, Director of the NY School-Based Health Foundation, and Urban Health Plan’s Senior Director of Adolescent and School Health Services, Chitara Waiters, along with Supervising Physician for School-Based Health, Dr. Elizabeth Etienne, come together to discuss how SBHCs reduce barriers to care.

From improving attendance and access to care to easing the burden on working parents, SBHCs allow students to receive medical, dental, behavioral health, and other essential services right where they are, at school.

Located in schools across the Bronx and Queens, UHP’s School-Based Health Centers provide comprehensive care regardless of a family’s ability to pay, helping students stay healthy, present, and ready to learn.

Look out for more conversations in this series!
