A little @tableauxnyc nostalgia for you today, since I’ve got NYC on the brain. Here we are nine (9!!!) years ago, if you can believe it. A vintage shot of @jennyjeski and me, fresh faced and bright at one of the very first Tableaux events at @lot45bushwick 🌹🎶🎨 #FlashbackFriday ♥️

I invite you to join me as I entertain with a new three song set of saucy songs on Sunday October 27, 4 pm, @donttellmamanewyorkcity

While the songs I’m working with were favorites from my early teens hanging round Broadway stage doors - they forecasted the queer, forward, fetish, femme life that I’ve been so lucky to cultivate/embody/invent/reinvent

This work of -becoming- is a sway between integration and release, that pulls from every medium and personality I’ve explored.

I’ll be sharing the stage with a handful of storytellers and entertainers who also share versions and possibilities of themselves. Earnest. Ridiculously joyous. Provoking. All such presence.

Directed by the brilliant @michaelkirklane, who generously coaches and inspires via @92ndstreety - when not performing or hosting everywhere else.

On keys, composer @yahzydotcom will be indulging our pauses, while giving the music its due, and us, our cues.

@houseofdarker and @tableauxnyc regulars and friends, I invite you to join, and let your gears start turning - because it’s time for us to start filling up rooms again…
And it starts like this. ✨🖤✨ Photo of a white woman in a black dress holding a black fan while singing.

My enthusiasm battery is fully charged, thanks to the conversing and scheming I’ve been doing with @shadow_traffic these past few weeks.

Their knack for carving out magical worlds in unexpected places, with enthusiastic company is something I’ve admired for years.

I’ve enjoyed the alchemy of their events as both an artist and a guest, and I come away inspired and connected no matter how I’ve participated.

How do they do it? I’m reveling in the opportunity to learn from and with them - as we collaborate to bring forth some magical new worlds for you to explore.

You will be able to join these worlds on Saturday, January 1st, 2022--the beginning of the first year of the rest of our lives.

We are developing four stories of glee, introspection and relaxation for you at Nancy Manocherian's the @thecelltheatre Come with an open mind and a closed mouth.

More details to come very soon.

We look forward to seeing you tonight!

Sometime before 9pm, I encourage you to pick up a ritual card from the alter and consider the questions posed. If you’ve brought an offering to your own personal muses, you can lay it on the altar anytime before 9pm

The rest of the ritual will be shared in person. ✨

If you’d like to reflect in preparation for our ritual this evening, here are some questions for you:

What is your passion, or passions, or, are you ready for your passion to be revealed to you?

Who or what in your life, helps you push your creative car out of the mud when your energy is stuck?

Who or what fans the flames of your energy and expression?

Who or what makes space for your creativity?

What would be an appropriate offering, gift, thank you, prayer, acknowledgement, or, dare I say, bait for the people, animals, activities, and things you answered above?

You know I want to hear all about your thoughts and journey considering these things - so please don’t be shy! 🙏✨

@stay_in_your_lane.c0m strode fashionably - yet effortlessly- into @tableauxnyc like it was a catwalk, and over the past two years has moved from fashionable guest to dependable and creative collaborator- joining our Tableaux core crew and sharing the responsibilities of making @tableauxnyc go.

In addition to being keen on period style and design, a fabulous stylist and decorator, Corrina has a smart and savvy head for business - and when we were brainstorming this past summer, she helped me see how we grow Tableaux with more confidence than I might have on my own.

We’re so happy to have her model this Sunday, and to continue to help us bring you @tableauxnyc for years to come.

Tableaux - Invoking the Muses
October 17, 2021, doors open at 6, event from 7 pm - 11 pm
@lot45bushwick - 411 Troutman St, Brooklyn
Proof of vaccination required by venue
No cover! Donations Appreciated

Oh, how very much I am looking forward to welcoming you back to Tableaux!!!

Please accept this invitation to Invoke the Muses with us. Models, artists, live music, performance, and ritual are all on the agenda and we are glittering with excitement to share it all with you.

Our very own @elshalarossa will be dressed in draping robes, and @audrey_ryan_ will pose as “artist.” You can draw, write about, or photograph this tableau however you choose or, enjoy a sip and talk about how you’d like to invoke the muse with fellow revelers.

Moved to dance? You can do that too. We are grateful to Rie Yamaguchi-Borden for bringing her band Trip G to Tableaux to provide live music from 7 - 9pm. Rie, is a seasoned jazz vocalist/drummer, poetry performer, and vice president of @gothamyardbirdsanctuary, which was founded in response to the 2020 global pandemic and its impact on NYC’s jazz community and local businesses.

At 9:30, we will be having an invocation ceremony. We will be making offerings to the muses to petition for creative force, direction, and inspiration. You can join us by bringing notes, flowers, trinkets, artworks, fruit, libations, or any other offering you feel suits your request, bringing them up to the altar when asked.

Art supplies provided, writing prompts available, and a community bulletin board are all available for you to explore. Leave postcards for your shows, your art, your new book, or your next open mic.

Like all bars, Lot 45 requires proof of vaccination for entry. We ask that you wear your mask when you are not eating or drinking if lip reading is not necessary. We ask that all eating be done in the garden room, and only drinking take place in the bar.

As always, Tableaux is a consent forward event. Please ask before touching, hugging, and kissing. If anyone makes you uncomfortable, we want to know, please find someone with a red ribbon, so that we can remedy the situation.

We look forward to seeing you there!

We’re back baby! #tableaux #houseofdarker

Posted @withregram • @tableauxnyc Amuse Bouche: A Tableaux Community Picnic. Saturday, June 5th. 2-5 pm. McGolrick Park. Casual outdoor mixer, in anticipation of the return of Tableaux @lot45bushwick. We want to see YOU! (Yes, you!) And to those new Tableaux followers and creative family members we’ve been fortunate to find during the past year and a half, we want to see YOU TOO. No need to RSVP

Where you should go: McGolrick Park, a few blocks from the Nassau G train stop or about a half a mile from the Graham L train stop. We’ll post where in the park we are on Instagram (@tableauxnyc) that afternoon.

What you should bring: Whatever you might like to eat, drink and sit on; a mask; some friends; and a year’s worth of pent-up emotions. Definitely bring patience and respect for those keeping distance and honoring their own needs. And why not bring your sketchbooks, your guitars, or your poetry to share? Every blanket can be a little stage or studio if you want it to be.

We won’t tell you what is safe for you. We trust you to make good decisions that feel right for yourself. We decided to start with an outdoor event to ensure that as many people could “come back” as possible for our first gathering. We won’t be asking people if they are vaccinated. There are many reasons why that’s complicated and unjust, but we also respect those who aren’t ready to hug just anyone, so we got pins and ribbons. You can wear all, one, or none.

Yellow - “Please wear a mask with me today.”
Red - “Please distance with me today.”
Green - “Please point to your yellow or red pin if I’m not noticing. I want to respect your needs.”

More info to come over the next few days, as only so much can fit in one caption ✨
