A few moments from this week…

One of the final Shell necklaces found its person less than 24 hours after sharing them 🫶 always a lovely feeling when something I’ve made heads off to its new home. 🐚

The Great Nurdle Exhibition opened on 19th September for @planetawareiow at @quayarts
After weeks of developing Choke Point, experimenting with materials + sharing little glimpses along the way, it was quite something to see it displayed in the Clayden Gallery and to see the space so busy with people looking at all the different artists’ work.

Back at the bench, wax carving has been making an appearance again too… more on that over the next few weeks…and the opportunity to give it a go yourself.

And somewhere amongst all of that, I still stopped to admire my favourite Joey rose. 🌹

A pretty good mix for one week, I think.

How did you get on with darning? Have you worked through that sock pile? No worries if you haven't. I managed to get one sock done and a very boring machine darn on my husband's jeans.

Talking of which our theme for June is JEANS.
I love repairing denim, particularly when I have a free rein to embroider until my heart's content (the evolution of my favourite jeans in the photos)...not so much when discreet machine darning is required. How about you? What's preferred your approach?

Thrilled to find a copy of Style of Wight with my Irma in there! I randomly bumped into my friend Jane Grant in Bembridge so we went for a coffee! Then I had a great day visiting other studios finishing up at The Department in Ryde. It was great chatting with my fellow artists. I definitely recommend visiting their Studios including Jane’s which I have been to before. Sustainable Sunday in Sunny Southsea! Jill and I started the day with a fab coffee and cake from @crazycrumbbakery and truffling in the local charity shops @sams_place_southsea then onto our rag rug workshop! The theme for May is DARNING.
What's your preferred method? Weaving? Scotch darning? Do you swiss darn?
This might just be an opportunity for me to give swiss another go as mine always ends up looking like cross stitch by the second row :)

Last week I spent a couple of days at the gorgeous @cowslipworkshops at the @curtainstocouture Small Beginnings, Great Expectations exhibition.
How wonderful to be there to experience the reactions of the visitors as they examined the reimagined baby clothes.
Different pieces spoke to different people. I watched people hug each other, reach for tissues and smile. So many emotional responses to this exhibition, happy and sad. And many many conversations, often people sharing stories they’d never shared before. It truly is a powerful exhibition.
It has been extended at @cowslipworkshops now until 21st April and then it moves to Bury St Edmunds (details at the end).
We’ll be posting updates for where it’s going after that on our account so keep watching.
And if you can please come and see it!

Owing to some technical issues this week, we are rescheduling the #mendsandfriends meet up for Wednesday 15th April at 17.30pm UK time.

As well as an opportunity to chat about about our ongoing mendy projects and share ideas, we are adding a new twist: a theme for each monthly meet up.

April's theme is APPLIQUÉ.
How much do you use appliqué in your mending? Are you into pictorial appliqué? Or maybe creating patterns? We're curious to see what you all come up with.
