POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I may get called out for this but…

Not every restaurant earns its reputation. Sometimes the longest waits, the loudest praise, and the hardest reservations lead to the most forgettable meals.

This category is reserved for the places where expectations consistently outweigh the experience.

A few unpopular opinions.

Because life is too short, and there are far too many great restaurants, to waste a meal chasing hype.

Next up: Geographically Undesirable, where we’ll answer one simple question: Why is this on the Washingtonian Top 100 if it’s nowhere near Washington?

The second DC restaurant which unfortunately closed last year is @tailupgoat (Michelin 1 star - Washington, DC). Pics are dishes from a tasting menu in November 2025. Looking forward to what this team brings with @ryebunnydc!

Tail Up Goat 5/5⭐️

I’m not going to give a full review because the restaurant is unfortunately now closed. But I’d be ignorant to not post about this life-changing meal, and at least speak to the joy it brought DC for the last decade.

When I came to DC, even when I knew nothing else about the food scene, I knew about Tail Up Goat. It was the restaurant. And I regret not going sooner, but thankfully I made it four days before they closed.

I could feel the love in the restaurant. I was sat between two couples who were former employees and clearly regulars. Each time an employee said hi to them all they spoke about was how Tail Up Goat had ruined any future job for them because of how lovely it was. I can never fully explain why I love restaurants so much, and what makes them so peaceful to me, but this meal explained it perfectly. The care, the simplicity, the effortless quality of each bite. I wish I could go back!

My third Michelin starred restaurant and certainly one of if not the best meal of my life. Love love lovedddd it!
