I’ve always believed beauty is bigger than a face to correct. I always believed it’s a whole way of being, a frequency you tend to. Care that feeds the skin, never fights it. That’s Dengo Botanica. Dengo is the Brazilian word for the tenderness you give someone you love. I couldn’t find it in a bottle, so I made it. We want to nourish you. We see you. Today, the doors open. Welcome to the selva. With tenderness,

She would wash her hair
and sit in the sun to comb it—slowly,
a quiet ritual of being with herself. That day, I watched from a distance,
camera in hand,
hiding behind the laundry wall,
afraid to interrupt her intimacy. Through the lens, I felt it—
the softness of her presence,
the pleasure in something so simple. She saw me.
I expected refusal.
Instead, a laugh—warm, alive.
“What are you doing there, girl?”
I told her she looked beautiful in the sun.
And she let me stay. We began, then, a silent dance.
She opened, little by little,
letting me come closer,
letting me witness her—
just as she was. No performance. No rush.
Old clothes, bare face,
her hair, her comb, her sun. Even the plant beside her joined us—
touching her skin, casting shadows,
inviting her to play, to feel.
Until she rested,
at peace with me,
as I was with her. This is how it has always been—
since she first held me,
since we first recognized each other.
A bond from somewhere beyond. Those photos were taken 2 years ago, a few months before she had a stroke. Things have changed since then.
I keep witnessing. Because the world should know her.
Because she is worth celebrating.
Because this is what I wish for all women: to feel seen. Today, my grandmother turns 94.
New Moon in Aries—
fire, beginning again. Today, on her day and inspired by her fire, I start a new chapter as a Somatic photographer and Somatic coach for women. ***This photographic process I went through with her is called Sacred Witnessing and it generates so much more than “just” images. It’s a field where you meet yourself just as you are. With presence, truth, and the feeling of being seen in your own essence, dancing your own dance. Will share more about this new work soon :)

The new year often arrives with a list of things to fix. But skin, like life, doesn’t respond to pressure. It responds to care that’s steady, simple, and real. This year, we’re not reinventing the wheel. We’re returning to what works. Rooted in nature. Guided by ritual. ✨ Dengo is coming. Save this if you’re craving simplicity this year.
