The exceptional hospitality of @anna_candela.it & @valerioizzo , the energy of Taln & Aum from Bar Us, Bangkok, for the season’s final guest, and a cooking class that was fun as it was memorable.

New friends, new experiences, extraordinary food and the timeless beauty of the Sorrentine Coast.
Three standouts: Sorrento Martini, Pesto Negroni and, of course, the Direct Martini 🍸❄️.

Bangkok where Gaggan rules! First, there are the actual rules. Keep your phone away and don’t ask to go to the bathroom. But the restaurant, ranked No. 6 in the world, rules because its 28 frenetic courses are a dazzling spin across the subcontinent.

There’s already a long queue outside Bar Us at 6pm. When I met founders Taln Rojanavanich and Aum Veerach Sawaengsupt in Macau last year, Aum hid behind a Hong Thai inhaler while Taln did the talking and head bartender Beer — who’s smiling through the intensity of the shift tonight — seemed happy just to watch them.

Since then, the bar has ascended to No. 4 in the world, partly explaining the queue alongside the drinks like their Boiled Egg Martini.

Firefly Bar is named after an insect you can’t see anymore in Bangkok. Dicky Hartono blames the light pollution, so he put the fireflies on the menu at Sindhorn Kempinski. In Thai folklore, a firefly grants a wish. This bar is the likeliest place left to spot one.

At Canopy by Hilton on Sukhumvit Soi 12, Cante serves flame-licked Spanish and Karen Fu runs SoolHaus, a late-night bar inspired by Korean drinking culture.

Gaggan is Indian. Taln and Aum are Thai. Dicky is Indonesian. Karen is American-Taiwanese. Bangkok right now gets its talent from everywhere, including right here.

Hosted a rap battle among the bartenders from Bar Us & Messengerservicebar at both locations. They were literally going bar for bar 🔥🎤

From hosting a hostel for backpackers to opening their first bar @messengerservicebar at their previous location in 2020 & eventually opening @bar.us.bkk in 2023, founders Taln Rojanavanich & Aum Sawaengsupt have been able to gather momentum & build up their reputation as the new pioneers Thai cocktail culture, ranking top 5 in numerous local & global award lists.

W/ that being said, Bar Us has recently ranked No. 4 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2026 list & won the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award at Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026 👏🏼🏆

Known for their “liquid cuisine” concept, their cocktail menu is designed like a multi-course fine-dining experience mixed w/ molecular gastronomy. In short, it consists of 4 sections: Starter, Main, Dessert & All Night (classics w/ twists).

For Starter, the drinks can be considered as light, crisp, & refreshing aperitifs. Their KATSUOBUSHI + WATERMELON is a perfect example of savoury & refreshing, similar to their sister bar’s Katsuobushi + Cucumber cocktail 🥒

Main is where food-inspired creations can be found which are quite bold, robust & savoury. BEEF + ONION is a crowd favourite including myself 🥩

Dessert is the ideal end for the night w/ aromatic, dessert-style sweet drinks. From the silky THAI TEA PUNCH to the distinctive rice sweetness of MOCHI & the also silky & cakey STRAWBERRY SUNDAE 🧋🍓🍡

If that is not enough, their take on classics would surprise you w/ unconventional flavour notes such as PANDAN IRISH COFFEE that blew me away 🤯☕️

Many thanks to Taln, Meck, Saido, Poom for the pleasant culinary journey 💯 Despite holding their newly located sister bar, Messengerservicebar, dear to my heart, it is evident to see why Bar Us is a crowd favourite 👌🏻
