🇬🇧 I have to tell you something:

After more than a decade organising retreats, ceremonies, festivals and gatherings, I’ve noticed something that honestly breaks my heart:

💔 People are finding it harder and harder to commit to real-life experiences.

😢 The events and retreats scene is suffering from the lack of commitment, last minute bookings, and cancellations. I see it every day with incredibly talented and high quality facilitators that have been running events for decades and are now facing the fear of not filling up their retreats and events.

🤯 My feeling is that many of us are overwhelmed with too many options, disappointed with empty promises, and sometimes it feels easier to stay home scrolling and disconnect than to say yes to something real.

🌟 But I run a retreat centre where we host retreats every week, and I see people arrive tired, disconnected, distracted... and leave a few days later with brighter eyes, open hearts, new friendships and a deeper connection to themselves.

🌈And I am an optimist at heart… so I believe and bet all my cards on in-person events. I am trusting that the right amount of people will take the time to distill the mass of information in this platform and connect with the thing that can fill their hearts.

So, if you want to connect with me, I see you at @amara.valley for the two upcoming Real Events:

🧶 HILANDERAS - encuentro de mujeres 23-26 Julio

🫂 FORMACIÓN DE CACAO - “Guardianes del Cacao” 9-13 de Septiembre

To all the Guardians 🐉

It’s taken me a few weeks to find the words after our Cacao Apprenticeship in May. Every time I run a retreat, even after more than 10 years, I meet the same companions: excitement, yes! But also anxiety, uncertainty, humility, and the quiet voice of impostor syndrome…

⚔️ And the truth is that working with Cacao is a double-edged sword: the purity and love of the medicine is what guides the work from the heart, however, its subtlety makes it difficult for us humans to grasp it or fit it into the rational mind. I always say: if you want to learn how to work and/or be in plant medicine ceremony, start practicing with Cacao. She is the safest and kindest of them all, but the truth is that Cacao requires a lot more of us than just sitting there waiting for the plant spirit to slap us, take us on a journey or make us “see” things… you won’t get that from Cacao. You will need to fully engage in the making of the ceremony and fully participate in it. Cacao requires of a lot more dedication, intention, discipline, endurance, patience, clarity and focus than any other master plant.

This apprenticeship invited us into some profound conversations around what ceremony is in this day and age:

🤎Why are we doing this?
🤎Is it just a trend that we are somehow all performing?
🤎Or is there a real need to come back to some essential human needs?

🙏One of the reasons I created the Guardians of Cacao Apprenticeship was because I was alarmed by the performative theatre, misinformation and confusion being shared online, and I felt called to share my deep respect for ceremonial space and the art of being a Guardian.

🌿Ceremony space is cyclical time, deep time, ancient time, un-rushed time, old time, spirit time… and in those “times” there are lots of things that the mind can’t understand, but I believe with all my being that human beings need to experience liminal, non-linear time time on a regular basis for our mental health.

I finished this apprenticeship with even deeper respect for Cacao and the team around me: @thecacaosociety @tamar.st.clair @salomeamiraemser @laurapardell and @katepetrova

See you in September for the 🇪🇸 Spanish edition!
