Exploring the colours and tastes of Finland through the mobile lens of a non-local dreamer based in Tampere since August 2024.

When people talk about Finland, they often mention education, innovation, and work-life balance. After a few hours in the forest near Saarijärvi, Tampere, I think one of Finland’s greatest treasures is something simpler: nature and silence.

Thanks to my Finnish friend, I learned the Finnish way of chopping wood, helped build a fire, grilled marshmallows, drank tea from Moomin mugs, and picked berries still growing in September.

For three hours, there were no emails, meetings, or endless scrolling.

Just fresh air, good company, and a quiet forest.

As someone who moved to Finland recently I’m starting to understand why Finns value their connection with nature so much.

Could you spend 3 hours in a silent forest?

I’m so happy to visit Medieval Turku late this June!

From medieval music and historic streets to traditional food and crafts, it feels like stepping back in time.

If you’re in Turku, you can still visit until 28 June or save this for next year!
