Mending my bota-ori (ไฟๅคš็น”) pants. I first learnt about this traditional weave fabric that originated in Kagawa from @lisalee.jp . It was used to make clothes of senior samurai back in the Edo period, and is known for its comfort in both warm and cold climates, and its durability. One of the shops which has been running for 120 years is literally 3 doors down from Lisa's place @kuku.petlodge , so I got my first pair in 2023. I've worn this in tropical Singapore and Indonesia, in the Atacama desert, in the mountains of Taitung, around Japan, and finally wore the fabric down. I also ripped the hem by accident getting off a motorbike. This trip I bought a packet of offcuts and decided to patch my pants up. I've never done it before and I didn't follow any guide; just went with the flow. If you look at the last photo, that's how worn the pants got especially on the seat ๐Ÿคฃ I patched in 2 ways, some with the fabric outside, and some inside (cause its awkward to have so many patches on the back). The lines of the weave make stitching easy without a pattern (I hate patterns ๐Ÿ˜‚). Last pic of me in the pantz in the Atacama desert, by @leglauser . I love this photo ๐ŸŒต
