GOLDENER is Evelyn Davis (piano/voice) and me (modular synth/pro tools). Our self-titled EP is out today, on bandcamp and the streamers.

This music is built on a foundation of tens? hundreds? of hours of live performance, chopped up and framed into detailed little structures. Hours and days of piano into modular, mined and formed into songs with Ev’s vocal stacks (so many of these are first takes), my beats, hand-played basslines, and more piano. There is no MIDI and almost no “synth”.

Evelyn is a fucking wizard, a wildly advanced player and vocalist. Being in session with someone like that is hard to describe. Greatness floats in the air and your job is to catch it in a net before it vaporizes.

We set out to make long ambient drones and soundscapes. We ended up making strange, beautiful pop songs that I love. But the process was hard and very slow, and I guess killed this project on the vine. So this project starts and ends here. We have no plans for live shows, PR rollout, weeks of social media posts, physical media.
