Why Do We Use Half-Kneeling Starts and Sled Sprints?

Most athletes think getting faster just means “run more.”
But real speed comes from teaching the body how to create better angles, produce more force, and stay explosive from the very first step.

Comment your answer‼️

Crazy to think it’s been almost 10 years since my first trip to China 🇨🇳 to train and coach.

It was a once in a lifetime experience and can’t thank @tylerrelph10 and @damin_altizer enough for that opportunity way back when!

Hope to get another chance to go back out there 🔜

Always great hanging out with my Day 1 from Brighton Schools, the greatest basketball player from my grade who enjoyed nachos and cheese, wrestling-related video games and goofing off!

And, to boot, the Cavs won and his Knocks lost!

Here’s to still keeping up with ya, Karl!

TBDL ARE BETTER, BUT STRAIGHT BAR DEADLIFTS CAN WORK—IF YOU DO THEM RIGHT

Trap Bar Deadlifts (TBDL) are often the better choice for most athletes and adults because they’re easier on the lower back and allow for better positioning.

But sometimes, a straight bar deadlift can be a good alternative—if your mobility, strength, and technique are solid.

✅ For athletes – Deadlifts build explosive strength, power, and resilience. Want to sprint faster, jump higher, and dominate on the court? Get stronger at picking weight off the ground.

✅ For adults – Life is full of “deadlifts.” Picking up groceries, lifting your kid, moving furniture—these all require the same strength and movement patterns. A strong deadlift means a strong back, core, and legs that keep you moving without pain.

BUT… if you do them wrong, they can cause more harm than good. Here are two big mistakes that can wreck your form:

❌ Rounded Back – If your spine is curved like a turtle shell, your lower back is doing all the work instead of your legs. Over time, this leads to pain and injuries. Fix it: Keep your chest up, brace your core, and keep your spine neutral.

❌ Bent Arms – When you bend your arms before you lift you lose stiffness in the spine. You also allow the bar to pull you down and that can harm the back Fix it: Lock your arms in tight, think break the bar, and keep the torso and arms stiff. .

If you have the option, the Trap Bar Deadlift is often the safer, more effective choice. But if you’re using a straight bar, make sure your form is on point so you get the benefits without the risk.

What’s your biggest struggle with deadlifts? Drop it in the comments and I’ll help you fix it.

🏀 Master Your Side-to-Side Movement! 🏃‍♂️💨

One of the BEST ways to get better at moving side to side? Playing the game itself! 🏀🔥 But to take your lateral quickness to the next level, it’s all about sports performance drills that build speed, strength, and control. 💪⚡

Struggling to keep defenders in front of you? Letting them drive by too easily? 🚫🏃‍♂️ Here’s where lateral bounding and change of direction drills come in! 👟✨ These drills enhance your ability to cut, shuffle, and react faster, so you can LOCK DOWN your opponents and dominate the court. 🔒🚀

If you’re ready to step up your game and move like a pro, let’s get to work! 🔥💯
