Wearables could be the next frontier in how we experience performance.

In the latest Opinions Unwired, Allan Rankin, Co-founder of Target3D, looks at the shift from passive entertainment towards experiences where audiences can interact with and become part of what is happening.

Game engines, VR, AR and volumetric capture are already opening up new possibilities. For Allan, the next step is interactive wearables, technologies that could respond to the body in real time through touch, muscle sensation and even brain-computer interaction.

But it’s not only about what the technology can do.

As game engines and immersive tools become more accessible, independent artists and creators are increasingly able to experiment with technologies that were once limited to large-budget productions.

For us, that democratisation is particularly interesting. More access means more people experimenting, more creative perspectives and more opportunities to explore what technology can bring to performance.

The future of immersive work may not simply be something we watch. It could be something we increasingly feel, influence and experience from within.

What excites you most about where interactive technology is heading?

AI won’t replace creativity. But it will change how creativity works.

In the latest Opinions Unwired, Allan Rankin, Co-founder of Target3D, shares a refreshingly balanced perspective on AI and where it fits within creative practice.

Rather than seeing AI as something to fear or blindly embrace, Allan argues that its real value comes when it becomes part of a repeatable creative workflow.

Yes, AI can remove some of the more mundane tasks. It can also unlock moments of genuine surprise and possibility. But neither of those things matter if the process can’t be repeated, refined and built upon.

For us, that’s an important distinction.

Like any creative tool, AI isn’t valuable because it exists. It’s valuable when artists understand where it belongs, how it supports their practice and, just as importantly, where it doesn’t.

The creatives making the biggest impact with AI aren’t necessarily using more technology. They’re using it with more intention.

Do you agree? How has AI changed your creative process?

More from the Nike set.

Building a mocap stage for a project like ‘Rip the Script’ is all about precision. You get the @optitrack cameras up, you wire the whole place, you calibrate, and then you just let the talent do their thing without the tech getting in the way.

And honestly, what a casting. Nike completely changed our idea of what an ad can be.

A few more behind-the-scenes shots of the crew doing what they do best.

Shoutout to @tangramsolutions and @target3d_eu for always having our back with the gear.

Still on cloud nine!

We are monstrously excited to share that we were in charge of the motion capture scene for @nike’s mind-blowing new commercial: “RIP THE SCRIPT”.

Breaking the rules, rewriting the script, and pushing digital movement to the absolute limit is exactly what we were born to do. Collaborating with the Nike team on this project has been an absolute blast.

Thank you to @twentyfourseven_______tv for giving us the privilege of being surrounded by the best. 💪🏼

It was all going to plan until instincts took over...

Rip The Script

A few months ago we received a call to be part of the incredible team that made this AD possible.
Being in charge of the motion capture scene, building the stage, delivering the Optitrack cameras, wiring up the stage, setting up the system, calibrating it, being at the rehearsals and the shooting… A BIG DREAM FOR ALL OF US!!
Of course, as always, we have to give a huge thanks to our incredible team. MONSTERS, you break the rules!!
Also, a huge thanks to @tangramsolutions for supporting us in all the process. You always have our back ❤️ @vceruelo eres nuestro ángel de la guarda, gracias por siempre estar ahí!
Special thanks to @target3d_eu the best partner for our @optitrack system!

LETS GO TEAM!!!
