We’re still catching our breath from last week’s whirlwind Annual Conference, full of great education, fantastic food, and really wonderful people! We want to thank all our presenters, vendors, sponsors, caterers and food purveyors, partners, and, of course, ALL OUR AMAZING ATTENDEES. You remind us why we do this work!

We hope you left with full bellies and full hearts, and lots to think about and work on over these next few winter months. We know we did!

More conference content will be coming out all month as we reconfigure our conference website to post the resources we compiled last weekend.

Thanks again, it was GREAT to see you all there. We are grateful for our strong Wyoming communities. 🧡

Good life, good food and good community starts with good relationships.

Relationships to the land, with animals, and with the ranchers who steward them.

“Cooking Your Way Through A Whole Beef” by @tasteofthewind307 (available at Meadowlark Market) is a beautiful way to deepen that connection, one cut at a time.

Pick up your own copy just down the aisle from a variety of local cuts by local ranchers.

(Don’t forget your seasoning.)

In August, BJ Edwards and @tasteofthewind307 worked with Women In Ranching through our Regrant Initiative to host an in-person wet felting workshop in Wyoming.

“This opportunity really boosted my confidence and showed me that I can still offer my community skills and joy in the midst of motherhood. As a mother of two young boys, I didn’t really think I could pull hosting this felting course off. Seeing the Re-Grant Program resurface with an extended deadline was that last sign I needed to just go for it- so I did! I haven’t felt this accomplished about something in a long time.” -BJ Edwards

“The grant funding allowed me to provide tools I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise afford, to make the learning process easier for the participants. I was also able to hire a local woman photographer to capture photos and videos I can use for marketing future workshops, and for developing my online version of this course. I also was able to provide a scholarship to a participant who would have not been able to participate otherwise. The confidence building elements and camaraderie that happened during the workshop were very encouraging and inspiring! The finished products turned out great and participants gave very positive feedback and seemed to enjoy the experience.”

Applications for our 2025 Re-Grant are open through October 30th, 2025! Learn more and apply at womeninranching.co/community-regrant

We welcome applications from:
🌾Individuals who are building or deepening their workshop facilitation journey
🌿First-time or emerging facilitators
🌲Community members who face notable barriers in offering public workshops (e.g., limited access to land, supplies, mentorship, or support)
🌻Those whose offerings align with WIR’s goals of supporting skill-building, community-based leadership, and land stewardship practices

We delivered a load of screened and amended soil to the Wind River Food Sovereignty project.

Nature takes time and soil plays the long game. It will take time for this to become vibrant and thriving soil. Just Keep it fed and watered…kinda like a baby 😍

As we close in on #WyoGives, which starts in less than 12 hours, please keep us in your donation plans for this Day of Giving across Wyoming.

Our executive director, BJ Edwards, knows “Wyoming is a state of bounty, and our very own communities should be able to access fresh, local, and healthy food.” If you believe the same, please support our work and mission.

Our goal is to raise 15K to support a part time position that will help us carry out our work of creating a local foods branding campaign, promote acceptance of food credit programs at local farmer’s markets, and develop a Wyoming meat processing plant locator to keep more meat processing in this state— and more as we grow!

Local food starts with YOU and Wyoming Food Matters. Support the Wyoming Food Coalition tomorrow!
