Hi my name is BJ Edwards and I own and operate Taste of the Wind. @tasteofthewind307 A small direct-to-consumer farm/food business located in SouthEast Wyoming.

I raise Icelandic Sheep and Mangalitsa Hogs and I work with several farms and ranches in my area to offer nutritious and delicious lamb, pork, beef, eggs, milk, wool products and more to our customers.

I have a deep passion for food access and localization of the food industry and I also serve as the Wyoming Food Coalition’s Executive Director @wyfoodcoalition

I hope you enjoy tagging along with me for the week! I am in the middle of lambing season and getting my big fluffy family out into pasture son the lovely and chaotic Wyoming Springtime!

Enough about me. I want to know a little about you! Take the poll in this post to let me know if you are a producer yourself, or just someone who loves ag and cares about what you eat (my heroes!).

And comment below with what state you are watching from!

Summer Sheepskin Giveaway!

Lambing season is complete for the Taste of the Wind Flock- woohoo! If you have been following along, you know how much of an accomplishment this is for my flock and me.

Lambing season is so full, and now we can shift gears and celebrate with a whole lot of gratitude for healthy animals and good grass ahead.

Thanks to @highwindhomestead, we are teaming up and giving away one naturally-tanned Icelandic sheepskin, born, raised, and tanned right here on our small Wyoming farm.

Our hand-tanned hides are all-natural products of the beautiful sheep that feed our family and community, raised for both food and fiber.

At Taste of the Wind we have a nose-to-tail pledge. This means on our farm, nothing is wasted and everything is valued.

It’s our way of saying “Thank ewe” to the animals, the communities, and the ecosystems that sustain us and our business.

We are giving away one sheepskin of your choice, with luxurious wool locks and soft suede that’s naturally bark-tanned to last.

Icelandic sheepskins are the kind of versatile decor you can throw over a cozy chair by the fire, a saddle, a pickup cab seat, or use as a throw or squishy rug to keep you cozy after a long Wyoming day of snow, wind, rain, or sun.

@highwindshomestead wants to share these hides and the calm, relaxation, and peace they bring her, with someone else.

To enter:

- Follow @tasteofthewind307 and @highwindshomestead

- Like this post

- Tag a friend who’d appreciate honest, homegrown goods (each tag counts)

- Share to your story & tag us for an extra entry

- Head over to the link in our bio for an extra 5 entries

The winner will be announced over email.

If you like what we do, and filling your freezer with Wyoming-raised, grass fed and finished lamb is something you’ve been thinking about this year, we’ll be opening our whole and half lamb deposits soon- we always share details with our email list first.

Giveaway closes June 15th, 2026.
Open to anyone in the continental US.

My newest batch of yarn from my icelandic
flock is back from the mill!

This yarn is heavy worsted-weight, all-natural, un-dyed, 100% Icelandic wool from my flock of Icelandic sheep born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming.

Lopi, is a traditional yarn very specific to the Icelandic breed of sheep. Because Icelandic sheep yield such long fibers, this yarn can be spun single-ply, rather than having multiple strands of yarn plied together like most shorter-fibered and finer yarns have. Lopi is a single, thick strand of yarn spun loosely into a lofty, fluffy, shiny, soft, and strong strand that (when crafted into garments) makes a durable, extremely warm, and wind-resistant garment that is a joy to wear.

I can’t wait for you to touch this yarn! It is incredibly soft and lustrous and knits up like fluffy clouds to create a wind resistant layer of lovely wool that I would argue is next-to-skin soft! This lopi is nothing like the commercial lopi most yarn enthusiasts are familiar with.

This yarn was spun in Stromsburg Nebraska, at The Fiber Mill.

Message me, head over to my site, or take a trip over to @cowgirlyarn to snag your 100yard hanks of Laramie Lopi- Dark and Laramie Lopi- Dark, Loosely Spun.
