I can already feel my memory improving now that I’m starting classes again for the fall semester 😂 But saying this past month was a blessing feels like an understatement.

Not captured in these photos are all the loved ones I spent time with but forgot to take pictures with, and the people I appreciate so deeply but didn’t get the chance to catch up with. I love you guys so much.

August has been a hard month for my family for the past few years. In 2024, we lost my grandpa—probably one of my mom’s toughest seasons. Last August, I lost my leg—my toughest season. And this August brought another pretty tough season for me and my family.

But September?

Man oh man. September was my saving grace.

Something Sophia said to me this month has really stuck with me: “You can’t be part of a village unless you are a villager.”

That cut deep.

I’ve always thought of myself as socially awkward, but I think a lot of that came from spending so much time choosing to isolate myself. Getting back out there, talking to people again, reconnecting, and allowing myself to be part of a community has honestly been a struggle.

So right now, I’m overwhelmed with joy thinking about all the people I got to be around this past month. Somehow, the stars aligned for this trip exactly when I needed it.

And this month marks exactly one year of being an amputee.

A rebirth.

I think I cherish this “birthday” more than my actual birthday because it represents one year of survival. One full year of learning how to live a completely new life.

One year of accepting the wheelchair just so I could go pee in the middle of the night.

One year of tough prosthetic days, sweaty liners, and—somehow—an equally sweaty booty 😭

One year of inspiring others and being inspired by other people’s resilience.

One year of being called “resilient” just for walking off a plane lmao 🤣

One year of getting closer to the people I love.

One year of breaking out of that shell of isolation.

One year of threading old bonds back together and creating new ones.
