For this week’s #whysenatewednesday, we are featuring College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Senator Taylor Blythe!

Here is why Senator Blythe is serving in the student senate:

“I’ve always believed that real change starts with the people who are willing to step up and make it happen. Throughout my life, I’ve been shaped by communities that have supported, challenged, and uplifted me, and I feel a deep responsibility to give back in a way that truly matters. Joining the Senate is my way of turning my passion for advocacy into action.

I want to be a voice for students who feel unheard, to push for policies that make a real difference, and to ensure that every student at UF has the resources and support they need to succeed. My goal is not just to be in the room where decisions are made, but to make sure those decisions reflect the needs and experiences of the students who make this campus what it is.

One of the most rewarding aspects of joining the Senate has been the incredible people I’ve met along the way. Being surrounded by passionate, driven individuals who share a commitment to making UF better has been inspiring. The sense of community within the Senate is something truly special, which is built on collaboration, respect, and a shared vision for progress. I am grateful to be part of such a positive and motivated group!

Through this experience, I hope to grow as a leader, to better understand the challenges that come with creating institutional change, and to develop the skills needed to continue making an impact beyond my time at UF. More than anything, I want to leave behind a legacy of action that proves meaningful change is possible when people are willing to fight for it.”
