dear fze softball,

i’ll never be able to put into words how much these last 4 years have meant to me. every game, every practice, every laugh, and every cry have made me into the player i am today. these were truly the best 4 years of my life. fze softball truly helped me find myself, not only as a player but as a person, too. i’ll forever be grateful for every practice, every bus ride, and every moment shared with my best friends.

if i could go back to my freshman year, knowing how quickly these four years would fly by, i would hug a little tighter, stay on the field a little longer, and never take a single moment for granted. it’s heartbreaking knowing i’ll never again put on this uniform, hear my name announced, or step onto that field knowing i have another game ahead of me, but im so thankful i have the opportunity to continue my career in college.

as i close this chapter, i’ll always remember the timid player i was freshman year and how these years have transformed me into the confident, disciplined, loud player i am today. i’ll always be thankful to have stepped onto that field with the girls i love most. fze softball will always hold a special place in my heart. it’s more than a team; it’s a family.

I’ve been putting this off because I struggled to find the words to express my gratitude towards this sport.

All my life it’s always been softball. Tee ball, coach pitch, 8u and so on. And the longer I played, the more obsessed I became. The more I played, the more I realized this was the sport for me. I belonged on a dirt field surrounded by so many supportive people who never failed to make me laugh, smile, and feel like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

This sport, though so hard at times and so tiring, has taught me so many lessons that I will carry with me everyday from now until I take my last breath. It taught me what hard work is, how to pick myself back up, how to be a teammate, and most importantly how to find a family in the most unexpected places.

Thank you Jesus for all of the lovely girls you put right into the palm of my hand. I don’t know what I did to deserve them but every time I had to switch teams you made it so easy on me. Every team gave me a new group of girls to love, laugh with, and make new memories. I am truly blessed to call all of my girls family.

And to every coach who poured their time and energy into me, thank you from the bottom of a little girls heart. It’s hard to say goodbye to something that’s been such a huge part of my life for the past 14 years, but I’ll never stop being grateful for the little girl who fell in love with this game all those years ago.

Thank you, club softball, for giving me the best years of my life. I’ll carry this game, these memories, and all of my girls with me wherever life takes me. As for K-states club team, I’ll see you soon.🥎🤍
