Fantasy Flatlay ✨ Happy Friday everyone 😊 For those of you across the pond or in the pond or on the outskirts of the pond, hopefully Friday is not too far away for you! It’s been quite a while since I put together a flatlay - mostly because they’re so hard to do properly, but also because I hardly ever have any time to do much on a Friday! But! This Friday is a little different for me because my wife and I are heading to Japan in a few days for our belated honeymoon 🥳 🇯🇵 🍥 We’re absolutely stoked to be heading off to see the country we’ve been dying to see for far too long! I’m a little sad because it means I won’t be able to engage with all my bookish friends for a month 😭 but I’m also overjoyed over the fact that I’ll be spending an entire month with the love of my life in an amazing country! I’ll share photos when I can 😊 although I warn you, most of them will be me with my head submerged in a bowl of ramen 😅 🍜 or pretending I’m the next Hokage in Naruto land - what!? It could happen! 😤 QOTD: Have you been to Japan? Are you from Japan? What would you recommend is a must see for first time visitors to the beautiful country? I’ve tagged a few of you to show off your most beloved fantasy books! I’m sure you’ll all do much better than me because my flatlay skills are abysmal! Bonus points if you can get a colour fade like I tried to do 💚💙💜🧡❤️🖤🤍 #flatlay #fridayflatlay #bookstagram #bookish #books #fantasybooks #epicfantasy #bookshelf #bookaholic #booklover #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #bookcommunity #bookishfriends #writerofinstagram #japan #holidaytime #tgif #booksarelife #lotr #thewitcher

✨ Witchy Wednesday Stack ✨ Crone, hag, enchantress, sorceress, striga, venefica – whatever you call that mystic mood, that temptress of time, that maleficent marauder of all things magical and malignant, we love a good witch (warts and all). I’ll start this post by thanking @philbert.readsandstuff (you might use the word ‘blaming’) for tagging me in the witch stack challenge and granting me leave to indulge you all in yet another tireless tirade. Try as you might, but it is a futile effort to try and ignore my genius, much like a buoy you try to drown in the ocean of indignation, I always bounce back. Talking about buoyancy… I can distinctly recall a time when hapless victims of mindless superstition were put to trial by a most unforgiving jury for even the most trivial of crimes (oops, I think I just gave away my age 👀)! These days, we read about witches in fantastical works of fiction like those in my rather lovely stack, and it was no different a few hundred years ago. I’m talking, of course, of the Malleus Maleficarum! What a title – I bet if a witch-hunting manual hit the shelves today people would be thoroughly tickled and not the least bit ticked-off! Turns out people were a lot more guidable back then, or perhaps they’re as cruel as ever and hoped that a conviction of maleficarum would put a swift end to a bitter neighbourly dispute over who spoiled their offal stew. And when the age of Enlightenment came and swept away myth and madness, we were left with boring, dull, mind-numbing people without a magical bone in their body! Nowadays, we just bumble about moaning and running into each other like dogs running into mirrors, without any sense of self or purpose and all looking really quite superfluous with our gaudy hair and showy tattoos, all the while wishing deep down that the next time we’re hurtled into a body of water strapped to a chair, we float! #bookstack #bookchallenges #bookfriends #bookcommunity #witch #booksta #bookstagrammer #bookworm #fantasybooks #bookish #booksofinstagram #booksarelife #booklover #bookaholic #bookshelf

✨💙🩵blue spredges stack🩵💙✨ (also weekly weirdo check in) “How can you hear your soul if everyone is talking?” Children of God, Mary Doria Russell If you caught my VERY chaotic TBB/Apothecary 19 unboxing reel yesterday, you also saw the moment my soul vacated & then FULLY reentered my body for the first time in what feels like weeks when I spotted THAT sentence on Children of God. That edition’s not in this stack (IT WASN’T BLUE), but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. We’ve been talking a bit about how I’ve been existing in a big cloud of dunno for a bit, but I couldn’t explain WHY to save my life. And now, I don’t have to. Reason 9,367,824 why being a reader is fucking awesome! 🥹🩵✨ 🩵 The Wolf and the Woodsman, Ava Reid 💙 The Knight and the Moth, Rachel Gillig (B&N special edition) 🩵 The Witcher: Crossroads of Ravens, Andrzej Sapkowski (TBB edition) 💙 Silverthorn, Raymond E. Feist (TBB edition) 🩵 Anathema, Keri Lake (more birds!!!) 💙 Fevered Star, Rebecca Roanhorse (TBB edition) 🦖 Check-in time: THESE NEXT FEW DAYS ARE ALL ABOUT NEVERMORE!!! The dress is here, & when I’m back home from housesitting (tomorrow, calm down), I PROMISE we’ll try it on together. Like I said in my unboxing yesterday, I’m going to be VERY gentle with myself on this trip. I’m BEYOND ecstatic to go, & I hope I don’t have to miss a single second, but I am, first & foremost, an endo warrior whose body VERY RARELY decides to cooperate. And that’s okay. Tagging a few for your own blue stack, but the usual “rules” apply—no pressure, no time limit, do whatever you want (sprayed edges are ALWAYS optional, challenge rules are just guidelines, anyway—don’t let ‘em hold you back 😘), & tag you’re it if you want to join in (tag me if you do)! 🔮 QotD: would you rather read a book with a CLIFFHANGER ending *or* read a book with a HEARTBREAKING ending? I’m a series junkie at heart, so my cliffhanger answer shouldn’t be THAT surprising, but I’ve read some INCREDIBLE standalones this year! MORE BOOK MAIL AT HOME, SEE YOU SOON! #bookdragon #bookstack #bluestack #sprayededges #bluespredgesstack #bookstagram #booksta #weeklyweirdocheckin
