Back from a mostly tech free weekend and easing into things with my next read: Heir of Illusion by Madeline Taylor. A few book besties recommended this one and look… I’m easily influenced and absolutely not mad about it 👀🖤

It’s giving ruthless kings, deadly alliances, illusion magic and one very untamed heroine. I’m ready for secrets, power plays and the kind of slow burn tension that could break me.

Help. Help. Help. Help. - Bael…. And me.

I liked book one a lot… but book two? Book two was so much more. As I’m writing this I’ve already started listening to book three.

A Breaking of Realms throws you straight into the wilds of Elondria with dragons, blood, politics and a FMC who refuses to break… until she has no other choice.

Skálda’s bond with Bael (the fierce little hatchling who crashes into her life) is powerful, raw and constantly tested. But this isn’t just a story about Skálda and Bael, there’s a full cast of compelling characters and at its heart this is a story of rebellion, loyalty, sacrifice and the brutal cost of truth.

With multi POV, shifting alliances and battles that hit hard (both emotionally and literally) A Banishing of Kings raises the stakes and then rips them apart.

Also the audiobooks narrators are amazing the tension, pacing and character voices were done so well.

I’ve had these photos of Wooing the Witch Queen sitting in my drafts for almost two weeks now, second guessing whether to post them. You know that feeling when it’s almost there but not quite?

But honestly I’m so grateful to @lara.the.reader for letting me send through photos, sharing tips and being the most encouraging soul. 🥹💜 This edition is stunning and deserves its moment even if the lighting wasn’t playing nice and it’s definitely not what I pictured in my head.

So here it is perfection or not because the joy of beautiful books is meant to be shared especially with this amazing community that just gets it.

I’ve had some seriously exciting book mail arrive lately with anything from dark academia to dragons, assassins and lots and lots of magic. Some of these have been sitting high on my TBR for a while and others are brand new temptations 😁

I just started A Breaking of Realms by Jasmine Young and the concept has me hooked: in a world where anyone can become a Dragonlord by building a realm, Skálda is determined to rise, until a wild hatchling falls from the sky and begs for rescue. Saving it means going rogue, defying the elven empire and possibly breaking the entire continent in the process. She never meant to steal a hatchling. She never wanted to become a Realm-Breaker.

📚 COVER OBJECT CHALLENGE 📚

Tagged by the lovely @chooksbooks_ and immediately exposed 😅 Turns out… I own two books with books on the cover. TWO! 😂

That said The Book Jumper and The Forgotten Book are so cute with magical fairytale vibes and that classic “bookish chaos comes to life” energy.

Tagging some bookish friends to either show me your books with books on the cover (please save me from my shame 🙈) or books with birds. If you’re not feeling it, no stress! If you weren’t tagged but want in on the fun l’d love to see it! Tag me so l can cheer you on!

💬 Ok I failed this challenge… but when was the last time you unexpectedly nailed something? Bookish or not I want to hear your random wins! by @tbr_eading

Thorns & Fire builds on everything I loved in Iron & Embers and raises the emotional stakes to a whole new level. It’s a second book that deepens the characters, sharpens the tension and refuses to give you what you want to easily (Torj I’m looking at you!)

Wren’s not whole but she’s healing, still determined, still unyielding and learning to live with her pain instead of letting it rule her. Her journey is raw, fierce and deeply human. And Torj. Oh Torj. His protectiveness and the way he sees Wren even when she pushes him away wrecked me. Their dynamic is all restrained tension and impossible longing, two people falling into each other and trying to claw their way out, not because they don’t care, but because they care too much… and can’t bring themselves to say it.

And the side characters?? Still top tier. There are shifting loyalties, impossible choices and so many beautifully devastating moments that make you want to scream and highlight at the same time.

Thorns & Fire is a story about choosing who you’ll become when everything you love is at risk… and what you’re willing to sacrifice to hold on to it. I am not ready for what book three will do to me.

Huge thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC it was brilliant the narration captured every beat of tension and tenderness ❤️ by @tbr_eading

Patiently (okay, semi patiently) waiting for Book 4 of the Gentleman Bastard Sequence…

In the meantime, The Silverblood Promise by James Logan just landed in my hands and that Scott Lynch endorsement on the cover?? If it even slightly scratches the Locke Lamora itch, I’ll be thrilled.

A disgraced heir, a dead father and a city that hides more than it reveals… Yeah, I’m listening. 👀

If you’re also stuck in Gentleman Bastard limbo, this one might help tide us over. And hey Scott, feel free to recommend a few more while we wait. 😁

Hope everyone’s having a good week, whether you’re bundled up like me or melting somewhere warmer 🥶☀️

It’s so cold in Melbourne right now, so this little orange stack is bringing all the cozy vibes I need. Spicy fantasy, soft lighting and a cup of something hot = winter escape mode unlocked.

Huge thanks to @aliciathebookdragon for the tag and @kellysbookvibes for the encouragement your orange stacks were amazing! 🧡

Tagging some bookish friends to try this challenge (either or both!) but only if you’re feeling it, no stress! If you weren’t tagged but want in on the fun l’d love to see it! Tag me so l can cheer you on!

💬 Let me know what you’re reading this week or if you’re like me and just building stacks instead of actually picking one 😅 by @tbr_eading

📦 Newest bookish mail 1/2! ✨
My special edition of The Road of Bones by Demi Winters (created by the incredible @moonlightbookbox) just arrived and I genuinely can’t stop staring. This series is one of my absolute favourites it’s gritty, emotional and unforgettable. And now I finally have a copy that captures the chaos and beauty inside. From the cover to the tiniest detail it’s utter perfection.

Huge thank you to @kc.reader for helping me get a copy I’m so grateful 🖤

I’ve already shared my thoughts on The Road of Bone but if you love:
🗡️ Brooding Viking men with inconvenient secrets
🔥 The slowest of burns
🖤 Found family
👥 Multi-POV that actually enhanced the story
🎯 A heroine whose strength isn’t loud but it hits

…you need this series in your life.
