Bicycle Diaries - it’s been a long time love affair with two wheels. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about all the different ways “I like to ride my bike” is expressed.
.
My grandfather was on a bike pushing 100 years old, and it may have been the one thing the two of us could really talk about. The townie with the click in the crank, the cargo bike with room for a few, the little 10” wheels that grow larger with age. A tool for work, a vehicle for joy, a “freedom machine” (coined by Susan B Anthony.
.
So many core memories have come from the bike, whether pavement, gravel, or a barely scratched in trail down a mountain. I loved my first step through frame with the streamers off the bars, and I loved my first used mountain bike with the backwards tires and narrow handlebars. My townie with the clamshell rack, the old little gray road bike that got me off the couch after a knee surgery, and the electric hauler that feels like cheating in the best way. I love, and loved, them all.

More importantly, I love the memories the bike has given me by bringing joy and community together.

I’m always over the moon to meet other Hangar Queens in our industry👩🏽‍🔧 I can only imagine that the number of women on the rotary side is even smaller, so I was so happy to be included in this amazing group of ladies!

Going from chatting online to meeting in person can be pretty rare, so I’m glad we were able to make it happen! Of course, I had to pass along some Hangar Queens stickers for their toolboxes! ✈️🚁

A lil archive dive to @explorenorthokanagan. Two years ago, an incredible crew and I teamed up to capture sport, adventure, culture, and landscape across the region. Tourism projects are such a fun creative and logistical puzzle for me. I love wearing both the producer and photographer hat - wrangling talent (athletes, pals, couples, families) across non-stop locations on a strict timeline while working around light and weather. Variety, adventure, creativity and teamwork - what’s not to love?!

From rigging underwater housings at the lake to shooting bike park laps, winery strolls and live music in the village, shoots like this keep you on your toes. Grateful for the trust, collaborators and incredible team to make it run smoothly.

These are a few personal favorites from that week with a little Abby black-and-white edit on top. Always fun seeing the OG edits living out in the wild across @explorenorthokanagan, @thompson_okanagan, @tourism_vernon, @destinationsilverstar & @supernaturalbc. :)

Meet Lauren, an AME Apprentice who proves that it's never too late to pursue a new career path.

Hi! My name is Lauren, I am an AME Apprentice working in the helicopter industry in British Columbia. My path into aviation wasn’t exactly a straight one. I was working in a career that I loved but felt like I had outgrown. As a single mom, I also reached a point where I felt stuck and knew I wanted something more.

I decided to take a chance on myself and went back to school for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, putting myself through the program while balancing work and being a mom. It was definitely not the easiest road, but it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Now that I am halfway through my apprenticeship, I really see what a huge accomplishment I have achieved.

What I love most about my job is that I get to work with my hands, constantly learn new things, and be around aircraft that I find fascinating. I feel incredibly lucky that I now get to work on the helicopters I always dreamed of working on. I work on a mix of M1 and M2, which means I am always learning and I feel proud of the work I do.

Outside of work I love to do photography. I think that creative side of me actually complements the technical side of aviation really well.

Making the transition into aviation has made me realize that it’s never too late to completely change direction. I went back to school at the age of 36. I’m proof that it’s never too late to change your life, and you’re not too old to learn new things. You don’t have to have it all figured out when you start, you just have to be willing and brave enough to take the first step.

For women considering aviation, my advice would be: don’t let the fact that you don’t see many people like yourself in the industry convince you that you don’t belong there. You absolutely do!

A Love Letter to Dawson Creek🌾

Dear Dawson,

You changed me for the better.

When I first found out we were moving here, I panicked. Having newly opened my business, I couldn’t possibly believe that a farming town could hold space and understanding. I came here carrying a lot of uncertainty. You taught me otherwise.

You showed me that I never had to hide who I was. You welcomed every part of me with open arms. You reminded me that being authentic will call the right people in.

To every woman who invited me into her circle, every person who trusted me with their healing journey, every client who became a friend, every friend who became family, and every community group that welcomed me in, thank you.

Whether it was collaborating on events, gathering in circles, sharing stories over tea, celebrating each other’s wins, or simply showing up when someone needed a friend, you created a community that I will never forget. The relationships I built here have become some of the most meaningful of my life, and I will carry them with me wherever I go.

Dawson, you also gave me back something I didn’t even realize I had been missing, my confidence.

You reminded me that I am capable of building something beautiful from my heart. You gave me the courage to trust my intuition, to believe in my gifts, and to stand proudly in the work I’m meant to do. You helped me rediscover my independence, my voice, and the version of myself that had been waiting to come home.

You met me with acceptance over hesitation and that’s something I will never forget. Looking back now, I realize I was stepping into one of the most transformative chapters of my life.

As we begin our next chapter, I’ll leave with a full heart, knowing that a piece of it will always remain here.

Thank you for helping me become more of myself than I ever thought possible.

This isn’t goodbye, it’s until we meet again.

Hi, I’m Ashley, the heart behind Moon & Soul Healing 🌙

As we step into a new astrological year, I felt called to reintroduce myself, my work, and the intention behind the spaces I create.

I’m an Astrologer, Sound Healer, Reiki Practitioner, and Intuitive Card Reader, but more than titles… I’m someone who leads with empathy, intuition, and a deep desire to hold space for others.

I’m a mom to two boys, a wife, a dog mom, an outdoor lover, a lifelong learner, and someone who believes that healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new, it’s remembering who you’ve always been.

My path hasn’t always been linear. I spent years in a career that didn’t align with my soul, feeling that quiet whisper that there had to be MORE.

Following that whisper changed everything, and now my purpose is to heal in a way that supports the emotional, energetic, and spiritual layers of who we are.

Today, I combine Astrology, Tarot, Reiki, and Sound to help others gain clarity, feel empowered in their life path, and reconnect with their own inner wisdom.

Lately I’ve been learning that healing isn’t always about doing more — sometimes it’s about allowing yourself to rest.

This summer I had the chance to experience the Energy Enhancement System Room at @gridironfitnesscentre , and the entire experience felt like an invitation to slow down, breathe, and simply be.

As I continue navigating my health journey, I’m incredibly grateful for spaces like this and for people who are supportive along the way.

A huge thank you to the Gridiron Fitness team for this thoughtful experience. 🤍
