In a former lifetime that honestly feels light years away at this point, a series of right choices landed me on a panel with @rebeccarusch and I got front-row seats as she shared a perspective that continues to influence how I get to see this world.

She spoke about how competition has evolved. Access to fundamental diet and nutrition guidelines, and the availability of training programs, means that’s now the bare minimum to compete. Everyone can be fuelling properly. Everyone can own their training plan.

But what happens when things don’t go according to the perfectly balanced, carefully curated plan?

The most exploitable advantage comes from our mindset.

She spoke about watching athletes dissolve under varying conditions, their performances washing away with the trailside runoff. And she spoke about how the advantage widens in those moments. Not only the leg up from not crumbling, but the opportunity to turn unfavourable conditions into our power.

And goosebumps tickled my arms as she shared the difference with perspective.

Some people tense, hoping the weather holds off.

While she sees the same storm and knows the strength of her mindset can make it an advantage.

The rain never went away. The meaning we give it does.

And maybe that’s where the real competition has been all along. by @tbroms

Forever dancing between not leaking out tears of joy alone in public, and allowing myself the full awe of how the twists and turns keep freaking providing.

The seeds planted in cold, dark seasons have rooted far deeper than ever imagined.

Acknowledging the time spent churning the soil. trusting the work to be done long before any signs or promise of harvest.

And then there are the synchronicities?! The little winks that send shivers down my spine.
The way the universe teases. Singing back in beautiful harmonies but only when Ive asked juuust right.

How do I even begin to explain?
How bold I even dare to try?!

So I linger in these spaces a little longer. A little taller as the universe tickles each vertebrae.

I dare you to chase Cayoosh Creek through the Duffey and not get gooooosebumps. Sure, maybe a small fraction of the hair raising feeling is the sheer awe of the tourists daring to straddle the double solid yellow lines 😅

but I have to remind myself that even though I’ve logged this drive countless times, the lookouts still pull me in. Can you just imagine seeing this for the first time?!

And each time I get to dance through this valley the quote, “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man” stirs the heart.

Gratitude flows out for every season I’ve been able to witness here, and for every version of myself I’ve been able to meet along this magical little stretch of road 🏔️ taken in Duffey Lake by @tbroms

I flirted with the universe for a couple years before committing to this industry 💍
The early dates were spent tasting bite sized pieces in spaces that already felt familiar. Helicopters mixed with skiing and hospitality in the winter, and dirt and stoke in the summer.. it made the leap to go back to school in my 30s feel a lot less insane, and a lot more like aligning with a path that has always been mine. And it’s funny how she conspires to get you where you’re supposed to be. ‘Cause dang this climb got a heck of a lot easier with a bump up from an Astar, and all bc I flirted with the universe a little longer than I ever have before 🚁 ✨

Life became 1000x more fun when I got outta my own way and learned to witness the rise and fall of the tides without trying to control them all the gawdang time. The cruel humour of everything falling onto my lap when I finally stopped trying to force my timeline has stretched a smirk across my face. The 11’s on my forehead can’t decide if they too want to soften in this chapter, or if they want to dig deep and take up the space they’ve earned. And with the full moon plus lunar eclipse drawing near, I can’t help but step back, and take a breath to appreciate all that is, all that never was, and especially whatever the heck this chapter is foreshadowing, bc man, witnessing these early pages has been an absolute trip.
Signed, a gemini, cancer rising, in the absolute weeds of a garden about to bloom 🌼

Ok.. Who the heck is SHE?!
I know I know I know there is still soooo far to go, but does it ever feel good to realize that the same gal who got scammed by an auto mechanic 6 years ago, and vowed never to be ignorantly reliant on some dude again, is now here 📍
What looks like a sudden change in direction from the outside, has been leading me closer to home than I’ve ever been 💛

There’s a little label tape note by my rearview mirror that says, “love bigger.”

It used to live on the dash, but it never really caught my eye.

And it wouldn’t stick to the wheel, falling into the change cup, lost with the quarters, and the neat little rocks from our last detour.

But it’s found a home with the mirror. Fitting, really. A reminder in every reflection.

And it’s funny, how the more I practice pouring out, the more that floods back in.
When I stoped staring at the places it wasn’t. Stoped feeling the weight of the time between.
Overflow would trickle into just the places it needed to be. Less force. More free.

I’ll never regret the love given. But I am humbled where I’ve reined it in. Where I’ve hoarded warmth like a depleting resource. Where I’ve turned off the tap not realizing the pressure it puts on the system. Pretending I can direct the current. Interrupt the flow. Clinging to the illusion of control...

Love bigger.

The reminder releases my fingers, and lets me soak into more moments. Interrupting arguments with my timeline. Embracing the spaces I get to exist in.
Remembering that what’s meant for me is already mine, and I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be 💛 by @tbroms
