$Jill Paha adds more hardware to her collection with a dominant Towerrunning USA National Championship title defense at this year's Hustle Chicago—the event's second year as the host climb of the championship. The win was the Chicagoland towerrunner's fourth US champion crown (2022, 2024, 2025) as well as her third Hustle win (2023, 2025). She blazed her way up the 94 stories and 1,632 steps of the city's 875 N. Michigan Ave. building in 12:00-flat, which was a 20-second PR over her winning time last year, one-second shy of becoming the first woman to go sub-12:00 since 2016, and nearly a minute faster than her nearest competitor—Michigan youth towerrunner Nicole Robbins. For her part, Robbins' 12:58 effort was the only other women's sub-13:00 performance on the day, and it was her second straight second-place women's finish at the event. Chicago runner/towerrunner Natalie Doolittle-Shadel rounded out the women's podium in 14:22. For the men, Chicagoland cyclist Sean Eisen reclaimed the title of men's Hustle winner as his 10:37 effort was his first win since 2024, albeit this time additionally granting him the title of US National Champion. His win was much tighter than Paha's in the women's race, as his finish was just seven seconds ahead of a battle between two veteran towerrunners to fill out the remainder of the men's podium. In the end, Utah towerrunner Tyler Lebaron's 10:44 effort was fractions of a second ahead of Albany NY area towerrunner Alex Workman. While the climb was Lebaron's Hustle debut, he had won last year's Scale The Strat in Las Vegas the same day Hustle was taking place. Meanwhile, Workman's effort was a 27-second improvement over his Hustle finish last year. New this year was prize money, with $250 going to the first-place men's and women's finishers, and $150 and $100 for second- and third-place finishes, respectively. $In the rematch between Chicagoland cyclists Sean Eisen and Chris Wiatr, Eisen left no doubt as he collected the win at this year's Hustle Chicago. At last year's event, the pair appeared to have tied with 11:14 finishes until the event timer revealed Wiatr had won by fractions of a second. The finish was the first win slower than 11:00 in event history. This year both competitors improved their times, with Wiatr — who climbed in an empty stairwell as part of the elite wave — appearing to have won with an 11:00-flat effort before Eisen showed up in the results after having climbed among stairwell traffic in a later start wave. Eisen scaled his way to the top of the city's former Hancock building in 10:46, reducing the winning standard back below 11:00. The pair were competing amongst themselves, however, as the next nearest finisher, Scott Adamczyk (12:40), was more than a minute and a half back of Wiatr for third place. For the women, it was Chicagoland triathlete and longtime Hustle competitor Catherine Demet finishing atop a pack of only three sub-15:00 finishers. Demet's 14:33 effort edged out Dana Jackson (14:41) by just eight seconds, with Maggie Murdock cracking the sub-15:00 mark with a 14:56 finish for third place.
