This is how we @imooutdoors founder of @nadairadventures and @judith.a.c.dunlop founder of @scottish.seaside.saunas ended our day yesterday @furuvik_rantasauna a beautiful sauna set-up, on the leafy edge of Helsinki’s largest island 🍂

We were just rounding-up a two week trip across The Nordic Region that started in Oslo @saunacongress2026 and ended with our first Finnish Sauna Retreat and our last Overseas Sauna Retreat of 2026 🔥

The retreat that took us to @hawkhillresort in the forested Nuuksio National Park @nuuksiolakeland staying in cabins by a lake (each with its own sauna), foraging for mushrooms and berries in the woods and eating in a forest restaurant. Then on to Helsinki, to swim in beautiful swim halls, eat in sumptuous restaurants and of course sauna 🔥

We are just about to announce dates for our first Oslo Sauna Retreat of 2027 🇳🇴

If you would like to be amongst the first to know, sign-up to our mailing list, on the @scottish.seaside.saunas website, or via the link in the bio 🔗

But, do it straight away… The next newsletter with all the details will be going out end of this week!

Hopefully see you on the Oslo, or Helsinki sauna bench in 2027 🇳🇴 🇫🇮 🔥

We sat down with Harvia’s CEO to talk about what actually makes sauna heat feel so good.

Turns out it’s chemistry: wood burning releases hydrogen, which combines with oxygen to create H2O — steam — right there in the rocks. No exhaust, no shortcuts. Just an ancient kind of heat.

We carry Harvia heaters because they get this right. Find yours at the link in our bio.

When I say that this place was pure magic… I totally mean it🙌

@furuvik_rantasauna is near Helsinki, Finland and it’s one stop you need to take if you want to experience a traditional Finnish Sauna in an incredibly beautiful location!😍

@tea.lindberg is the amazing woman who owns and runs this sauna, she offers places to stay, multiple saunas you can book, food, and you can’t beat the location right on the Baltic Sea 🌊 perfect for cooking off between sauna sessions which is also how the Finn’s do it!

Plus, if you get the chance to meet Tea you will understand why this place is such magic! We loved having her host us and if I ever make it back to Finland @furuvik_rantasauna will definitely be one of my very first stops!❤️

About twenty minutes outside Helsinki, the roads narrowed, the forests got thicker, and it started to feel less like we were heading to a business and more like someone was letting us in on a secret.

There was no reception desk. We’d booked online, paid online, and the instructions had all arrived beforehand. When we got there, we simply wandered down to the waterfront, found the sauna, walked in, and started sweating.

The little shop worked the same way. Need a towel? Rent one. Want a sauna bucket or a T-shirt? Take it and pay on your honor.

Inside, we shared the sauna with three Finnish men who have a sauna club together. They spend their free time visiting saunas around Helsinki. Two spoke enough English, one mostly communicated with smiles and gestures, but it didn’t really matter. We were all there for the same reason.

Between rounds we’d slip into the Baltic, sit on the docks, and watch boats drift past.

Before leaving, we went looking for the owner so we could pay for a t-shirt. The owner turns out, is the legendary @tea.lindberg

If you’ve spent any time in the sauna world, you know Tea. She’s spent years introducing people around the world to Finnish sauna culture, but she greeted us like we’d been friends forever, welcomed us into her historic Villa, and even invited us back for dinner that evening.

We’ve noticed this over and over again in Finland. The remarkable part isn’t just the saunas. It’s the trust. The generosity. The assumption that strangers are simply friends you haven’t met yet.

Thank you, Tea, for welcoming us to @furuvik_rantasauna . We’ll definitely be back.

What happens when you put a Canadian 🇨🇦, an Egyptian 🇪🇬 and an Australian 🇦🇺 together and challenge them to try Finnish salmiakki? 👀🖤 Aaand we did this right after the sauna 😂

Salmiakki is a salty liquorice flavored with ammonium chloride, and it’s one of those Finnish treats that you either love… or REALLY don’t. 😂 Many Finns grow up eating it, and you can find the flavor in everything from candy and chocolate to ice cream and even liquor! 🇫🇮

But how did our international guests handle it? Watch until the end, because this salmiakki had a little surprise inside. 👀

A look back at VÄISTÄKÄÄ, Helsinki’s biggest skateboarding weekend 🛹

As a proud sponsor of the event, we brought our mobile sauna to the heart of the action, giving skaters, visitors and the whole community a place to relax, recharge and enjoy authentic Finnish löyly.

One thing became clear: there’s always time for some good löyly.🔥

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and made the weekend one to remember. Between the action, the summer heat and the sauna, it’s safe to say no one was left cold.😎

See you at the next event!
