Extraordinary #cesarmanriquefoundation in #lanzarote_canarias - a great start to the week with @tea6martini exploring #cesarmanriquehouse - an underground artists hang out created in the 1970’s - all whitewashed and organic shapes - surrounded by volcanic landscape

Geopolitics shape who and by what approach climbers can climb a mountain. In the 1920s, the Brits had a special relationship with Tibet through their ‘ambassador’ Charles Bell, and had a clean run on the mountain into the 1930s. Then there was the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950, and the borders shut. So, the Chinese expedition in 1960. A magnificent effort. But not the first ascent to the top. That was by Hillary and Tenzing on the other side of the mountain, in 1953. Conveniently edited from the storyboard if you were to visit the north side of the mountain today.

Another fantastic concert! Despite the weather, we entertained the audience with many upbeat tunes and were treated to some beautiful solos by four members. The evening raised £228.63 for @youraisemeupcharity
