On Ag Teacher Appreciation Day, we’re also looking ahead to Teach Ag Day this September 17th—a national celebration of the educators who inspire, mentor, and prepare the next generation of agricultural leaders. 🍎🌾

Ag teachers shape futures every day through passion, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to their students. We can’t wait to celebrate them again this fall and continue shining a light on this incredible profession.

Our Food Science team had a BIG first full day on our journey out to the Big E Food Science Competition in Massachusetts!

This afternoon we were able to visit Penn State University where we had the opportunity to engage with Dr. John Coupland and students of the Food Science department. We were able to have an interactive learning experience in their sensory research lab and even were treated to ice cream at the historic Creamery!

A special thanks goes out to Ag Ed professor, Dr. Daniel Foster, for all his assistance making this stop in Happy Valley possible!

In honor of National Teach Ag Day, Miss Agriculture USA would like recognize the women within our organization who are proud Ag Educators! 🍎

We would like to honor those in our Miss Agriculture USA Queen family who are past, present, and future agriculture teachers, who have devoted themselves to growing the future of the agriculture industry.

Today, we’d like to honor and recognize these queens:
🍎 Tristen Lewis, 2021 Florida Miss Agriculture USA (ABAC Student)
🍏 Morgan Miller, 2021 Clermont County OH Miss Agriculture USA (Wilmington College Student)
🍎 Kayla Edmiston, 2021 Pennsylvania Runner-Up Mrs Agriculture USA (Current agriculture teacher)

Regarding why she pursued agriculture education, Tristen had this to say, “[I] chose to teach agriculture because of how important the industry is to our daily lives and inspire younger generations to do amazing things in this world, just as [my] Ag teacher did for [me]!”

Kayla agreed, saying, “[I] chose to become an agriculture educator to bridge the gap between farm and fork as well as give every student a safe place to experience hands on learning, premiere leadership, personal growth, and career success!”

Thank you ladies and job well done! 🌱

The next Faces of Ag Hill Friday features Jacob Turko of Kutztown, PA!

“Hi! My name is Jacob Turko and I’m a sophomore studying Agriculture Extension Education with minors in International Agriculture, Sustainability Leadership, and Food Systems. I chose Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences because I saw the value of agriculture in everyday life that many others don’t a lot know about. I hope to spread the love and appreciation for the agricultural sciences through our classrooms and communities by helping to build a bridge between people and agriculture, just like my ag teacher did for me. On campus, I also a member of the Lead Society!”
