🎯 I think it’s important for me to clarify on this. Not saying you can’t get value from being coached by a white person if you’re a minority. (I myself have learned from several different white coaches before). What I AM saying however, is that there is also IMMENSE value in being able to connect with your coach on an ethnic and cultural level. 🔥🔥 Our cultures determine much of how we’re raised, and how we grow up seeing ourselves, others, and the world. 🌍 In fact, much of our unconscious beliefs formed during early childhood, are rooted in this cultural experience. Some of us don’t even realize this. While a white coach may be sympathetic & can certainly listen to you share about our experiences growing up having to assimilate to white society, most of them will never be able to TRULY understand this unique experience & relate on the same level. I have a whole lot more to say on this, but I’ll save it for future posts ;) WoCs, this post is for you, so I especially wanna hear from YOU.
