The 7th annual @team_avsc Sam Ryan Coffey memorial Scholarship was awarded last week. With @alaskaspeedy becoming our first female and international recipient. ⚔︎ “Alaska Speedy came to mind immediately for the SRC: She loves going fast, she loves ski racing, and she is a competitor through and through. But there was one thing that really sealed it for us. Alaska was on a ski trip in Norway, and she did a backflip into the icy Norwegian water. We thought that captured Alaska perfectly — that sense of adventure, that willingness to just go for it. ❄︎ Alaska has this incredible enthusiasm for skiing, competition, and life that really embodies the spirit of Sam Coffey.” (Casey Puckett) ☠︎ Alaska said: “I am so honoured and grateful to receive this award in the memory of Sam Coffey. I didn’t know Sam personally but through this award I learnt about his incredible spirit. This award keeps his legacy alive and introduces people like me to who he was. This award helped me a lot with my training this summer. Thank you Aspen Valley Ski Club.” (Alaska Speedy) ⚓︎ Congrats from the freaks, the tweaks and the Coffeys! Hope you continue to rise—but more importantly have fun on sticks.

Winter’s coming and we’re ready! 51 days until chairlifts are spinning in Aspen. Ski film premieres this weekend, breakfast chats about “Pussyfoot to Blondie’s,” fielding random questions about “how soon Red’s will be open” and talking through the pros and cons about possible trips to Alta or Jackson all with our boys. The excitement is real in our house. Ajax Pow Turns
