You can want more for yourself and still be scared to go for it. I get it. But at some point, you have to be willing to challenge yourself.

Lift the damn weight. Stop lifting in your comfort zone.

That’s part of growing, in the gym and in life.

Weight 120 lbs (8-10 lbs ⬆️ stage weight)
Height 5ft 0.5 inches
32-25-35

NOTE: squats 170 lbs

Apparently, today is THAT random Wednesday👀🔥

Took the judges’ feedback and put in the reps!! These legs are my response and we still have 4.5weeks of being Locked In😈

No matter what happens on that stage, I’M PROUD OF THESE LEGS. Every rep. Every cuss word🤣 Every bit of progress—earned🏆😍🦵

A little reminder…. keep your confidence and keep showing up. Progress can be hard to see day to day, but those little improvements add up🤍

I’m in my 40s, and the only thing I’m interested in losing is the idea that getting older means getting weaker. 💪🏽

I don’t expect my body to look or feel 25 forever, nor am I trying to. But I fully intend to keep building strength, challenging myself, and seeing what this body is capable of.

Because building muscle isn’t just about looking good in a bikini (although I’m not mad at that either 😉). It’s about being strong enough to keep doing the things I love, on my own terms, for as long as possible.

I’m not chasing the woman I was at 25. I’m investing in the woman I’ll be at 50, 60, and beyond.

And I plan on giving her a hell of a foundation to work with. 🤎

What’s one thing you’re doing today that your future self will thank you for?

Now accepting clients. DM me “READY” if you are ready to build a healthier, stronger YOU!🫵🏽

Every rep, every drop of sweat, every time I show up when I don’t feel like it… it’s all adding up. 💪🏽 I’m not just building a physique, I’m building a stronger version of me. One rep at a time. 🖤🤍💙

If you’re new here, welcome. 🤎 I’m Janine, a single mom of three girls, nurse practitioner, business owner, and bodybuilder in my 40s.

This is my little corner of the internet where I share single motherhood, building muscle after 40, wellness, and life as it happens, meh, with some hormone and peptide talk thrown in, too. 😂

I wear a lot of hats, but whatever you find here, it’s always going to be authentically me. 🫶🏽

If you’ve been here a while, you know my life is a constant juggling act. On paper, I have my girls 294 days out of the year. In reality, it’s a whole lot more.

Between working full-time, being a mom, building a business, school drop-offs, pickups, extracurriculars, keeping up with friendships, family, training, and somehow finding time for myself… I honestly have no idea how I get it all done, but somehow I do. 😂

One of the biggest changes I’ve made over the last two years is learning to ASK FOR HELP.

I’ve always been fiercely independent, but I’ve also learned that I don’t have to do everything myself. My mom happily steps in when I need her, and I’m fortunate to have a few trusted friends I know I can lean on.

They say it takes a village, and they’re not lying.

Having people around me who understand and respect how important my physical and mental health are to me has made such a difference. That time I take for myself isn’t time taken away from my children. It’s part of what allows me to keep showing up for them and everything else I have going on.

And I know there are so many moms out there doing this EVERY SINGLE DAY without help. No backup plan, no one to tap in when you’re exhausted, and somehow you still get it done.

If that’s you, I see you. ❤️ This is your safe space. 🫶🏽

I don’t have some magical formula for balancing it all. Some days I’m just figuring it out as I go.

But one thing I’ve learned is that you can be a strong, independent woman and still need people. Both things can be true.

And sometimes taking care of everyone else starts with allowing someone to take care of you, too.🫶🏽

Someone once asked me why I don’t announce when I’m prepping for a show anymore.

I had to explain that when you’ve dealt with coercive control, you learn that sometimes sharing your goals just gives someone another opportunity to try to derail them.

When someone sees parenting as a competition, they’d rather interfere with something you’re working towards in hopes of eventually being able to tell your children, “Look, she failed,” rather than celebrate the fact that their daughters are being raised by a strong woman they can emulate.

But here’s the part they’ll never understand.

While they’re busy trying to control the narrative, I’m busy doing the work.

I’m raising the children. I’m there every day. And my daughters get to watch their mother work, sacrifice, struggle, succeed, fall down, get back up and still pursue things that matter to her.

They don’t need someone to tell them who their mother is.

They’re watching her.

And there is no failure in that. ❤️

Bodybuilding has taught me a few things that have absolutely nothing to do with building a body. 😂

You can bring the whole package and still not win.
You can be attractive, successful, check every box…and still not be the right person for someone or a position. And that’s okay. Not every loss means something was wrong with you.

People will always reveal who they are.
You can talk the talk all day, but eventually you have to walk the walk. Patterns, behaviors and consistency will always tell me far more about you than anything you or a friend could ever say.

Looking the part and actually being the part are two very different things.
A great physique doesn’t automatically mean discipline. Success doesn’t automatically mean character. Confidence doesn’t automatically mean competence. I pay attention to what people consistently DO, not just what they look or sound like.

Feedback isn’t always criticism.
If you want to improve, you have to be willing to look at yourself objectively. Sometimes the thing holding you back is the thing you really don’t want to hear.

You are capable of being uncomfortable for a lot longer than you think. Prep will humble you. Life will too.
But there’s something powerful about knowing that when things get hard, I don’t immediately look for the exit.

I adjust. I learn. I keep moving.… that is until your words and actions don’t add up…then I exit stage left. 😂✌🏽

with Olympia being this weekend, I can’t help reflect on my experience with Bodybuilding and the impact it had on my life ❤️

It taught me discipline, passion, and work ethic that is unmatched which has impacted my life in many other aspects

There is a lot of sacrifice made for competing, and I don’t know what that holds for me, but I can’t help but to my grateful for what Bodybuilding and competing has taught me, and I can’t wait to watch the Olympia this weekend 🫶🏻

I continue to stay inspired and I’m so thankful for my coaches who have helped transform me from my first prep to today @ja9fit @toptier_physiques

take a peep at the last slide for the beginning of my first prep back in December 2022 🤪

Some things you only learn by living through them.

You stop chasing people who aren’t choosing you.
You realize silence can tell you everything you needed to know.
You stop matching energy and start protecting your own.
You learn that effort and interest usually speak the same language.
You accept that not everyone is going to grow with you. Some people peek in high school, some in college and some never stop evolving….and that’s okay.

And eventually, you stop trying to force what doesn’t fit.

What’s meant for you won’t require you to lose yourself trying to keep it.

Live loudly. Love privately….and yes love will always find you when you least expect it. But that’s life! 🤎

5 strength training hills I’ll die on. 🫡🏋🏽‍♀️

1️⃣ Strong will always beat skinny.
I don’t train to take up less space. I train to be strong, capable, and to build a body that can actually DO things. 💪🏽

2️⃣ Recovery IS part of training.
More isn’t always better. Your body needs sleep, rest days, mobility, food… all the boring stuff nobody wants to post. 😂 You don’t grow while you’re training. You grow when you recover.

3️⃣ You don’t “need” help to turn pro.
And by “help,” I mean PEDs. I earned both of my pro cards naturally. Drugs don’t replace genetics, discipline, consistency, conditioning or years of work. Period. 🤷🏽‍♀️
P.S. I am referring to Bikini and probably Fit Model only.

4️⃣ Mind-muscle connection > overload.
I will choose actually feeling the muscle I’m trying to train over moving the heaviest weight in the room every single time. If everything BUT the target muscle is doing the work… what are we even doing? 😭

5️⃣ Your body needs FUEL to build muscle.
You cannot be terrified of food and expect your body to grow. 🍚🥩🍓 Building muscle requires training hard AND giving your body enough to build with.

You don’t have to agree with me. That’s why they’re MY hills. 😂⛰️

What’s yours?

Be the encourager. But start with yourself. 🤍

We’re so quick to hype up the people we love.
To remind them how strong they are.
To tell them they’re doing a good job when they can’t see it themselves.

But when was the last time you said those things to you?

Because maybe you’re doing better than you give yourself credit for.

You’re getting up. You’re handling your responsibilities. You’re taking care of people. You’re working, figuring things out, carrying things nobody even knows you’re carrying… and somehow, you keep going.

Sometimes we get so caught up in just getting through the day that we forget to give ourselves credit for actually getting through the day.

So wake up and speak kindly to yourself.
Cheer for yourself a little louder.
Give yourself some damn credit.

You deserve some of the encouragement you’re always giving everyone else. 🤍
