POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This morning was an unbelievably humbling experience for me.

Last night, Mother Nature gave us a run for our money! Heavy rain, strong winds, colder temps. It was all stacked against us.

Despite all that, The Northern Virginia Fit Club did a 4-mile walk around Lake Accotink this morning.

We had great conversations, we laughed, we slipped, we dodged water and mud.

We did it together.

One of my co-workers brought his wife, their newborn son, and their puppy.

Another friend brought her Mom with her, who is visiting from Texas.

These people choose to spend their Saturday morning with me, walking 4 miles around a lake.

I am just so grateful for them and to be building this community together.

Our next ruck/walk will be on Sunday November 15th. We would love to see you there!

Perspective.

What you see as your biggest shortcoming, another sees as their greatest accomplishment.

Every day we each have a choice on how we view our lives.

We can choose to be upset or we can choose to celebrate.

I choose to celebrate.

Saturday October 17th!

That is when the Northern Virginia Fit Club is meeting again for a 4 mile walk/ruck at Lake Accotink Park!

We will meet at 0800 and complete the 4 mile loop together. (Look for the black Jeep Wrangler with the 1stPhorm flag.)

DM me to RSVP. Of course, there will be 1stPhorm goodies to try as a “Thank You” for attending!

I cannot wait to see you there!

I train for longevity.

So I can actively participate in my daughter’s lives.

So I can do all the yard work.

So I can be the person counted on when something heavy needs to be moved.

So I can be here for decades to come.

Training is so much more than simply lifting weights, eating healthy, sleeping, moving, and drinking water.

It is the key to a life of ability and mobility.

How many people do you see in their 50’s and 60’s who have limited mobility? TOO MANY!

I train not to be one of them.

Training with someone is one of the highest forms of respect you can show them.

It tells you that the person you are with cares about your health.

They care about your wellbeing.

They want to see you succeed.

In healthcare, we spend 12 hour shifts taking care of others and all too often neglect taking care of ourselves.

Not this crew.

Everyday we see the crippling effects from neglecting your health and every Saturday that we work together, we spend 45 minutes prioritizing OUR OWN HEALTH.

We train together and that is how we win.

Everyone wants to be fit until they see the invoice.

It takes discipline.

It takes making consecutive decisions that bring you progress, not setbacks.

I pass on “treats” like donuts, brownies, and other things at work. (I’ve actually done it so much that my co-workers know it as my normal.)

I drink water. I move my body. I sleep.

Notice how I did not say, “I sacrifice.”

When you have a goal, and you commit to the goal, none of it is a sacrifice.

We all get to choose.

As I have progressed in my fitness, I’ve changed my programming.
I Implement far more unilateral movements.
Why?
Simple benefits like:
• Improves Balance & Stability
• Corrects Muscle Imbalances
• Redecues Injury
• Stengthens Core
• Improves Athletic Ability

I still like and understand the need to lift heavy weight, but I no longer need to build my muscles for the competition stage. I need to be able to use them, well.

Does you training progress with you, or do stay the same?

Change is on the other side of the work you are not willing to do.

Change is on the other side of the pain you are not willing to endure.

Change is on the other side of the discipline you think you do not have.

All of these examples are lies that we tell ourselves. I say “we” because I am not excluded from the gravity of this post.

The absolute truth is this. We are all one decision away from changing our lives forever.

All we have to do is decide that we want change.

Decide that we are willing to commit to the process that will bring us the change.

Decide that we will no longer accept the excuses we give ourselves.

Our health is our most prize possession, it’s time we treat it as such.

A lesson from IG. (Sounds crazy!)

Your algorithm is determined by what you like and watch.

If you change what you like and watch, the algorithm changes.

If what you see in your feed is negativity, political strife, and things that upset you, it’s because you are choosing to see those things.

Don’t believe me? Change what you watch.

Choose to watch positivity, motivational, and health related content. Soon, your feed will be full of these wonderful things.

Life is no different. What you choose to spend your energy on determines how your life is impacted.

If you choose negativity, that’s what will consume you.

If you choose gratitude, happiness, health conscious, and motivational content, that is what will consume you.

Currently, my feed is full of bread making, Being a Good Father, Being a good Husband, training, and Disney content.

What’s on your feed?

Saturday was awesome!!

Saturday, I was invited to sample 1stPhorm Products at the Excelerate Fitness Member Appreciation Day!

Members were given the opportunity to bring a friend to train with them. There was food, my 1stPhorm Products, and raffles giving away some AMAZING prizes!

Let me tell you about this gym. They have built a REAL COMMUNITY! Members support and encourage each other! I heard things like, “I used to be scared to go to a gym but here, everyone’s welcome.”

You always hear me talking about community and, well, THIS IS IT!

Not only was it a great event, the best part was THE PEOPLE!! So many smiling faces. So many wonderful conversations.

If you are in the Arlington area, this gym NEEDS TO BE your new home!!

Thank you Cornell for the invitation and thank you to Excelerate for the opportunity to share the best supplements in the world with your members.

Stock up with all your 1stPhorm products at Excelerate Fitness: 1200 N. Herndon St. #203 Arlington, VA 22201

Community.

Something you quickly find in the military.

When people ask me what I miss the most (besides the people), it’s the community.

It doesn’t matter if you are at first duty station or you are near retirement, you automatically have service in common. You have shared experiences that only military people go through.

I am building that community and fostering its growth now, as a civilian.

One of the best parts of my job is working with Active Duty Service Members! This morning there were Army Nurses, Navy Nurses, Army Medics, and Navy Corpsman all training together.

A REAL “Joint Service Exercise!”

30 Minute EMOM (X 6 Rounds):

Incline DB Bench Press
Floor Plate Press
Feet Elevated Pushups
Standard Pushups
Lower Chest Cables

No better way to start the day!

I didn’t want to train this morning.

My alarm went off and I wanted to stay in bed.

Then I remembered all the men who I deployed with who are no longer with us.

All the men I served with who are no longer with us.

I remembered how they would give anything to have the chance to wake up early and leave it all in the gym.

So I did.

This morning was for you gentlemen.

Until you count me back into the patrol base.
