Whatever you do in life, make sure it brings you happiness—and make sure it has a positive impact on others.

I’ve had the honor of serving as the Los Angeles Latinos Run ambassador for the past few years. When I was first offered this position, I took time to think deeply about the responsibilities it carried.

Growing up in LA, we didn’t have many free programs or community resources—especially not ones my mom felt comfortable letting us attend. Our dad worked late nights, but on weekends he made sure we got out, running freely through Exposition Park and the Rose Garden.

If more options like running or walking clubs had been available—and accessible—I believe my parents would have joined and exposed us to more community events and wellness activities.

It wasn’t their fault. They gave us everything they could: the best education possible and strong, traditional Mexican values.

When I became lead ambassador for Latinos Run LA, I spoke with Maria and shared my vision: to build a community where everyone feels welcome, seen, and excited to return week after week.

Together—with Latinos Run LA, HOKA, and LADWPACERS—we’ve built a safe space for all who show up.

A heartfelt thank you to Angie, Run Montebello Run, and the City of Montebello for this recognition. I’m truly honored to be part of today’s event.

We proudly stand with our immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities.
Juntos podemos hacer mucho para nuestras comunidades.
Gracias.
