$Saturday, August 22, 2- 9 pm ALCHEMY OF OTHER SELVES Interactive video installation by Ted Efremoff Sound: Drake Andersen Video assets: Audrey Adams Satellite Gallery 279 Broome St, New York, NY Ted Efremoff’s moving-image work draws from medieval depictions of monsters and Cabinets of Curiosity - where the strange, grotesque, and wondrous coexisted. These sources serve as entry points into a visual investigation of the boundaries between fear and fascination, self and other. The artwork is not a resolution, but a slow turning acknowledgment of the volatility, radiance, and uncertainty within the evolving external and internal terrain. The Satellite Gallery exhibition of the artwork will include a participatory component. Ted Efremoff is a multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker whose work spans moving image, photography, performance, and environmental art. His projects have been supported by NASA, the Fulbright Foundation, and the Association of American University Professors.
