POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

LAST WEEK to enter the Team Dream / @itsnotabikeshop fundraiser for a chance to win a rare Team Dream frame and help us rebuild the Idlehour trail entrance bridge.

Sixty-six days after the Eaton Fire started the US Forest Service granted us permission to scout the burn zone to assess the damages. Almost two years after the fires we've been at work to establish the trail, create safe passage, remove fallen trees and we still have lots of work to do.

One of our major projects is replacing the historic wood bridge off of Mt. Wilson Toll Rd. By donating $10 it will help us replace the bridge, build it to the current USFS specifications, and fund the expansive materials and labor.

Coaster Brake Challenge #36 heat 3

I missed last week's by a few minutes and couldn't find them haha so the third heat was the best one to start on, The Beast climb. It was a pretty tough climb on a single speed, I probably gave up like four times lol.

My hub got too hot and steamy on the way down and I had to let it cool down lol Thanks Eric for stealing my hub cooler lol

Anyways it was a lot of fun and can't wait for the last one.

Another year in the books✨

Just a little older, maybe a little slower but excited for another year filled with beautiful places, hard bike tours, flowers, critters and hanging out with amazing people.

Cheers to another year 🍻. Looking forward to more bikes, more camping, and exploring new places 🙏

Small collection of 34 in a nutshell.

Took a damn big ride through hell, not really, just a physical challenge of epic proportions for me and some friends. PAUL from @atomiccycles_fanpage lead the annual Hell Ride through a new zone for many of us, climbing into the mountains east of little Tujunga crossing over and making our way up to Camp 9 fire station and down into Placerita Canyon, 57 miles 6800 ft. of climbing, some of us got there three hours earlier than the rest, I won’t tell you which group I was in, you can probably guess… Paul showed his insane athleticism by riding a early 80s coaster brake equipped cruiser that weighed 40 pounds, and lead the fastest gravel crew to an early finish. Yeah, that’s right, he was on a single speed coaster brake while everyone else on far more capable machines at far lighter weights. What a legend. And my friend Alex who hung back with the slow crew, but it was actually faster than us, also riding a really old circa 40s Schwinn coaster brake equipped, these guys in their late 50s are legit level fitness status. @mtbdirtbagz hit a major cramping wall, climbing up to camp 9, but he just would not give up, finished the whole damn thing! Thanks for the photos of me, Froilin!

We brushed up on our chainsaw skills and dove in even deeper this weekend during our chainsaw re-certification course. It was a special class long in the making. We had always talked about holding a class on one of our actual projects in the backcountry. These classes are usually held at a Rec or Fire site that is accessible and more catered to first time sawyers. Our saw instructor on the Angeles, Greg, made it happen. All it took was for him to retire. We could not be more proud of Greg and his commitment and true love for the Angeles, and his new future path. We held our first class with him now that he officially retired as a USFS Battalion Chief on our next project - Gabrielino NRT - West Fork through Devore to Newcomb Pass. It was great to also include a few of the key sawyers who work with Saw Boss @tediseasy over @mwbaorg and @stevemessermtb of @corbamtb.

Greg is like no other. Humble but demands respect, and a fountain of wisdom way beyond his years. He sets the bar high and so do we, because there’s no tree project worth tackling if you can’t do it safely. Many folks want to run a saw and reach out about wanting to get certified who have yet to volunteer on a basic trail maintenance day. Our team of sawyers is a tight knit group for a good reason. We have spent countless hours working on trails together. That’s something all of our sawyers have done and is Step 1 to becoming a sawyer: showing up to the party.

Wanna of the worst feelings in cycling is cracking your beloved frame. @tediseasy recently had this feeling!!! 😭

Luckily almost everything swapped over to this beautiful @wilde.bikes Rambler SL! Well…not everything, we had to grab Carson a new @chriskingbuzz Midnight NoThread Headset to match the frame perfectly, and a set of the @sramroad Flatbar/Flatmount brakes!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! This is what a #supercommuter looks like!!! 💚💛❤️

Everyone wish @tediseasy a very happy #allezLAnewbikeday !!!

Pics from this past weekends campout and two days of work on Idlehour. With the Mt Wilson Toll Rd in rough shape again, it was a tough journey into camp. We spent the weekend cleaning up tread, building drainage, clearing down trees and debris, and reestablishing trail corridor that was lost in erosion and flooding. It was a beautiful and productive weekend in the canyon. We are on track to having this trail ready when the closure is lifted. Lots more to do!

Idlehour Lowelifes Trailwork weekend 🤌

We're officially working from the campground up. We rode in fully loaded up Mt. Wilson toll road, into idlehour single track.

After the rains there were way more ruts and landslides on the fire road making it a bit more challenging to get in but it's worth it once you're there We had the refreshing streams and lush greens to welcome us into camp.

We split the groups and worked both ways, the sawyers worked on multiple trees to clear the path and the rest settled in to thread work and widen the already narrow path. After the hard days we had water soaks (if you dared) and delicious ramen for dinner.

🪾Idlehour is still closed to the public.

Another successful weekend with the @lowelifesrcc crew ✨

We've been busy working our way through Idlehour. We started our hike from Mount Lowe toll road and the crew made it about 2.5 miles in, our saw crew made it all the way down to the campground.

It was great to see all the work we put in this past weekend and super stoked all the work we put in last month stayed intact after the heavy rains. Also bonus! I saw a California King Snake 🐍

My body hurts but totally worth it, anyways enjoy this collection of photos.

NOVEMBER UPDATE 📢

We are making great headway on Sunset Ridge. From Lowe Rd to the Millard campground, 22 volunteers worked the tread and focused on fixing drains and grade reversals allowing water to naturally flow off the trail. This creates long term sustainable use of the trail. And who doesn't love less mud and ruts on their trails? 💦

This area is still closed due to the Eaton Fire, but we can't wait to use it and share it with all you. 🏃🚵🏇🚶

Our annual Friendsgiving in the forest.

Just another excuse to get ourselves in the forest, ride bikes and eat bomb food with just a bunch of rad folks. AND Of course your girl had to get in a little watercolor painting.
