Every year, Bali produces 303,000 tonnes of plastic waste, with over half of it being openly burned or dumped. This contributes significantly to the pollution of water systems and oceans.

While tourism constitutes about 70% of Bali's economy, tourists generate 3.5 more plastic waste per person compared to locals.

Eco Mantra showed that cutting consumption and waste reduction in the tourism industry is possible. One of the simplest ways is by separating waste from its source. We helped one of our clients reduce their waste to landfill from an initial >50% to <3%, and this zero-to-landfill journey is still ongoing.
