Miles for Mark are COMPLETE! 3:11:24 & over $5,000 raised for Tedy’s Team!

Having the Chicago Marathon to look forward to these last 365 days was exactly what I needed to stay motivated & inspired during arguably the hardest stretch of my life.

While this was nearly 30 minutes slower than my marathon PB, it felt incredible to toe the starting line with the ability to compete hard from start to finish. What I love most about this sport is that if you genuinely love the process, whether you’re in position to PR or not, you can find so much joy in the journey of simply giving your best effort.

When the wheels came off after 20 miles, I continued to remind myself of something I tell my athletes every day…I get to do this! Being able to run Chicago just one year after suffering two strokes was remarkable in itself, but feeling like my old self competing hard & redlining to the finish made it even more special!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me throughout my recovery & helped raise awareness for stroke. If there’s one thing I hope my story shows, it’s that no matter what life throws at you, there’s always that dog inside you ready to fight!

We don’t do anything alone. Love on those who love you & never forget that we’re all capable of doing remarkable & extraordinary things. Let’s go!

One of RFF’s founders, Caroline, is running the New York City Marathon on November 1st alongside her sister Jessica, raising awareness and funds for @tedysteam, founded by former NFL All Star, Tedy Bruschi, after he suffered two strokes.

But this is bigger than one race for the Nava family. Their dad ran six marathons in his lifetime, including the NYC Marathon twice.

In 2022, he had a stroke that impacted his ability to talk, walk, and perform daily tasks on his own, and it’s a huge part of why RFF exists today. Lacing up for Tedy’s Team felt like the obvious way to keep showing up for that fight in heart, mind, and body.

26.2 miles for heart, mind, and body. Send Caroline and Jessica your good luck 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Chicago Marathon 2026. 💙🏅

Not every race goes according to plan, and Chicago certainly tested me! It may not have been my best time, but because of the heat and humidity levels, I listened to my body, adjusted my pace, walked when i needed to, and still crossed that finish line. And through it all, the reason behind every mile never changed.

Running for @tedysteam in honor of my dad has been so much more than just another marathon. Together, we raised a grand total of $7,288 to help stroke and heart disease survivors and their families on their journeys toward a comeback. And THAT is something I’ll forever be proud of.

One of the most special moments was FaceTiming my dad as I crossed the finish line, so we could cross it together.

To my teammates who became family, thank you for every early Saturday morning run, all the miles we logged together, the laughs, the encouragement, and the memories made along the way. Training together has given me friendships I’ll cherish long after the finish line.

To my family, friends, and everyone who donated and supported this journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I may have run the miles, but I never did any of this alone💙

Boston & Chicago. Two marathons, six months apart, and officially a TWO-STAR Abbott World Marathon Majors finisher! ⭐⭐

Thank you so much to Casey Zanowic for sharing my story & helping me promote awareness for stroke & Tedy’s Team. I will forever be grateful for Stephanie True & everyone who supported me through the Miles 4 Mark this past year! #tedysteam #chicagomarathon

1 year ago from today Katie & I watched the Chicago Marathon from my room at the Mercy South Rehab Hospital. Despite being wheelchair bound, I knew I would run the Chicago Marathon in 2026.

Having the opportunity to fundraise for Tedy’s Team was the cherry on top. Katie & I couldn’t be more thankful for each of you supporting our journey & contributing to a charity so near & dear to our hearts.

If there is anything I want people to understand is that stroke can happen to anyone! Educate yourself on the signs of stroke please. Tomorrow Katie & I are honoring every mile to every healthcare worker who helped make the dream of the 2026 Chicago Marathon a reality. Thank you! #tedysteam #wesurvivewerun

On October 3rd, 2025, for the first time in my life, I realized there was a real possibility I could die. A year later, it’s still pretty crazy for me to think about everything that has happened since.

I suffered two strokes at 32 years old, spent several weeks in the hospital & rehab and had my PFO closed this past spring. I’ve shared a lot of the positive side of my recovery, but the reality is this journey has been tough. It took a lot of will, motivation & hard work to get back to living my life again.

I think that’s why this anniversary hit me harder than I expected. A year later, I realize just how lucky I am to be a survivor. I’m incredibly grateful for Katie, my family, friends, medical team & everyone who has supported me along the way.

From pretty much day one, I believed I was going to have one heck of a comeback story. I’m really proud of how far I’ve come & this weekend I get to run the Chicago Marathon! More than anything, I’m just grateful to be here, doing the things I love & continuing to move forward.

Stroke can happen to anyone at any age. Know the signs & act quickly!

Less than a month until the @nycmarathon 🫠

Will I run a fast time? Maybe. Will it matter? Definitely not. This training block hasn’t gone according to plan, but I’ve loved every minute of it. So grateful to be running with @tedysteam, in honor of Matt and every family affected by stroke.
