#EP 167 Officer-B

On this week’s podcast, I speak with Australian Federal Police officer Matt. Before joining the Federal Police, Matt spent some time in the Royal Australian Airforce both as a photography and as a reservist airbase security. During this time he joined the Victorian Police Force in 1996 and then in 2013 laterally transferred to the Feds.

On 23 September 2014, 18-year-old Abdul Numan Haider attacked police officers one being a plain clothes Victorian Police Officer Officer A and the other being Matt a Counter Terrorism Unit Agent with a knife outside the Victoria Police Endeavour Hills police station located in Endeavour Hills, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Both Matt and officer A sustained multiple stab wounds which subsequently led to Officer A discharging his sidearm once neutralizing the threat, both Matt and officer A were awarded Bravery Medals for their actions on the day.

Matt's identity has been suppressed for operational security reasons. This is a raw an honest chat about service and find purpose after a critical incident changes your life.

#EP 150 @gg_australia

G’day and welcome back to True Blue Conversations — where we sit down with Australians who’ve dedicated their lives to service, leadership, and shaping the nation we’re proud to call home.

Today’s guest represents the very heart of Australian values — integrity, service, and a deep commitment to community. We’re honoured to be joined by Her Excellency Sam Mostyn, the 28th Governor-General of Australia.

With a career spanning business, sport, climate advocacy, and social justice, Sam Mostyn has long been a powerful voice for fairness, inclusion, and national progress. From boardrooms to grassroots initiatives, she’s championed the idea that leadership is about lifting others and leaving things better than you found them.

Now, as the King’s representative in Australia, she carries forward a proud tradition — supporting our communities, recognising extraordinary Australians, and reflecting the spirit of a modern nation.
In this conversation, we delve beyond the title — into the person, the purpose, and the passion that drive the role.
This is a chat about service at the highest level… about what it means to represent a nation… and about staying grounded while carrying great responsibility.

So settle in — this is a special one.
This is True Blue Conversations with Her Excellency, Sam Mostyn AC.

They show up when it matters most. Now it’s our turn. ☕

This Thank a First Responder Day, you can help turn gratitude into action by donating the cost of a coffee to support first responders and their families to Fortem Australia.

Fortem's regular Coffee Connect sessions create welcoming, low-pressure spaces where first responders can pause, connect with others who understand, and recharge mentally and emotionally after the challenges they face every day.

It might seem small, but even one coffee can create a meaningful moment of connection and support.

Your donation helps Fortem continue delivering Coffee Connect sessions across regional, rural and urban communities, reaching first responders where support is needed most.

Buy a brew and say thank you. 💙🧡🩵

Gear Giveaways & Discounts!
We get regular enquiries about the gear and equipment we choose to run.

For clarity: no, we aren’t sponsored by anyone, and we pay for our own gear. We prefer to buy, test, and run what we personally like and need — just like everyone else.

Ammo sponsorships however…. 🤔
We’re listening🤷‍♂️🤣

That said, we’ve run the Krieger Industries (KI) IFAK for quite a while now, and we rate it highly. - So do all of you! They tell us it’s a best seller!

For those who don’t yet have an IFAK or simply want to try this one, we’ve secured a discount code for YOU — the end user. Can be used across all KI products when you purchase from them. Code: ARMA10

More importantly, for every 5 sales from you legends when you use our code, the lads at KI will donate an IFAK pouch that we’ll gift forward to:
• a student attending our training, or
• a frontline responder from military, law enforcement, or emergency services who genuinely needs one but may not currently have the spare funds to purchase quality kit.

No gimmicks, and no profit for ARMA Co.

We simply want frontline end users to receive a small thank-you discount, while also helping get quality equipment into the hands of other good people.

Over time, you’ll see us posting and handing some of these IFAKs forward throughout the community.

*For other companies interested in similar arrangements — feel free to reach out. We’re not interested in making money off your products; we are interested in helping good people access quality equipment and training.
