Reflecting back on the last couple months preparing for @tehikumaiangi how special! Nothing beats performing with your own whānau. I remember watching @tauracherrington put the tono out to all our marae to come together and perform at Te Hiku Maiangi simply because they are always there supporting and showing their aroha at @teahuarekaongatihine I rongo ngā marae maha o Ngāti Hine! Mangu pai te whare - Some that had never done poi before, never touched a rakau, some had never even performed before and some that hadn’t done kapahaka in years. The best part many got to perform with their children, their parents and even Nanas and Papas, Not only were we able to show our aroha at Te Hiku Maiangi we were able to come together as one, something you rarely see for a happy occasion ❤️ E Taura and I know you’re gonna hate seeing this because you ain’t the type of person that likes to be singled out, you’d rather do the do and get on with it. E rere ana ngā mihi, e rere ana te aroha, tō tatou kai whakahaere, the mastermind 😆 the growler lol When you say jump we’ll moan but eventually we’ll say how high!! Ānei ngā hua o tō tono! We put a call out in September to all marae in Ngāti Hine to come together and create a kapa to perform at Te Hiku Maiangi next weekend, we didn’t expect much to be honest maybe a good 20 people but our karanga was heard and nearly 200 people came wanting to perform and to tautoko, so with that came funding applications for busses so we could all go as one and perhaps take the burden of travel off our whānau, koha to the venues that will be used and of course designing a logo for tīhāte so we could all look pretty decent when we take that stage because we all know nothing is free, So we would like to take this moment to say a big THANK YOU to @ngatihinehealthtrust and @teahuarekaongatihine who saw our vision and agreed to tautoko our kaupapa by being our biggest supporters and sponsors We can’t forget @siddapiata who designed our logo 👌🏾 E tuku ana ngā mihi ki a koutou. P.S Our cool tīhāte came in and our fairies have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure they look 👌🏾👌🏾 for next weekend, we are so close to D-DAY and we are psyched Ngāti Hine ki te hoe Ngāti Hine ki Te Hiku Maiangi

NGĀ HUIARAU O KAWAKAWA KI TE HOE ! All those weekends, the Mondays after school, hours and hours of drills and tūwaewae takahia (🤭) all the moaning, growlings and sometimes press ups 😂😂 They really stood up there and made us proud! I watched them with all the tears in my eyes 🥹❤️ I think back to the moment we made the decision to come home and I can really say it was the best move we ever made for our babies ❤️
