After hearing from a number of prospective applicants who needed a little more time, we’ve extended the deadline for Back in the Frame so everyone has the same opportunity to apply.

It was an honour to host this screening of @rohan_kanawade multi-award-winning @cactuspearsfilm and to open the excellent #southasianheritagemonth programme at @thegardencinema

A film of connecting and connections, of small gestures that mean the world. (I’ve cried the three times I’ve seen it 🥹) Believe the hype! This is a landmark film for both Indian cinema and queer cinema 👏🏾

A perfect film for both the start of South Asian Heritage Month and Pride week here in London. Because queer history is South Asian history is queer culture is South Asian culture ♾️

A huge thank you to Rohan, extraordinary producer Neeraj Churi and @lotusvisualpro , and @tejinderj and the team working so brilliantly to get this film out to UK audiences 👏🏾

Catch this film in cinemas! I also recommend that you check out Rohan’s stunning short film U FOR USHA which is streaming for free on the BFI Player. Very excited to see what he does next!

As always, a pleasure to work with @thisisjoebond and lovely Garden Cinema colleagues ✨

Happy #londonpride weekend 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Pride can sometimes feel very yt, very corporate and very expensive - So let’s do something for the community instead!

Delighted that @hungama_ldn is hosting a special screening of CACTUS PEARS (Sabar Bonda) at the iconic @riocinema , Dalston on 19 June.

This tender queer love story from rural India made history at Sundance as the first Indian fiction feature and first Marathi-language film to win the World Cinema Dramatic Grand Jury Prize, before picking up the Jury Prize at SXSW London.

I’ll be hosting a Q&A with director @rohan_kanawade after the screening.

And because culture should be accessible, we’ve secured £5 tickets for our community.

🎟 Use code: CACTU5PEARS

Come support queer South Asian storytelling, independent cinema, and a film that’s all heart.

@rohan_kanawade’s #CactusPears is a tender and deeply affecting Marathi drama that weaves queer love, grief, spirituality and self-acceptance into one of the most moving South Asian queer feature films of recent years.

Absolutely blown away by the sheer masterpiece #CactusPears, the best South-Asian queer feature in contemporary times. Despite a narrative primarily centred on grief, friendship and love, the film adapts an unhurried tone and manages to have something which films about emotions don’t frequently have… And that is reverence.

A wholeheartedly welcome change from the usual societal backlash, this one empowers identity and shows that milieu - urban or rural - is irrelevant when embracing the reality and encouraging authenticity.

Bravo @rohan_kanawade @lotusvisualpro @chicray @tonygill9 @tejinderj @bhushaan_manoj @suraaj_suman and the entire @cactuspearsfilm team for this cinematic gem. Releasing UK wide from 19th June 2026.

After his father’s death, Anand returns from Mumbai to his ancestral village in rural western India to fulfil a ten-day mourning period. There, amid the pressures of tradition and grief, he reconnects with his childhood friend Balya. 𝘾𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙨 𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 is the award-winning debut feature from Rohan Parashuram Kanawade—a tender meditation on loss, intimacy, and the liberating power of sexuality.
