If you’ve been here long enough, you know I’ve been a walking suitcase ad for the past decade—calling Eden, NYC, Cape Town, Cape Cod, Miami, and Lisbon home.

Now, I’m proud to call Portugal our primary home base for the foreseeable future. 🌍

Lisbon has been my sun soaked, part-time home for almost 4 years, and I've watched the city draw an exciting mix of international expats. Many of you have inquired about the Portugal Golden Visa that my partner, Julian, offers via @tejo_ventures. I wanted to share some of the reasons why Portugal ranks as an incredible European base, and as the best Golden Visa program in the world (as reported by Bloomberg).

Firstly, No, the Portugal Golden Visa program is NOT ending. The Golden Visa program was amended to exclude real estate as an investment option. Investing in a Golden Visa eligible fund, like @TejoVentures, is one of the only options now.

Your single investment of €500,000 allows European passports for the whole family, including your dependent children and parents.

- You don’t have to live in Portugal: You're required to be in Portugal for only 14 days every two years while engaged in the program. The Greek & Spanish Golden Visas require 183 days in country each year.

-Affordability: Portugal is one of the last remaining outposts in Europe where life—taxis, supermarkets, rent, restaurants, childcare, healthcare, schooling—is truly affordable.

-Safety: Portugal is the 7th safest country on Earth and a gun-free culture.

-Fluent in English: Everyone I’ve interacted with in Lisbon speaks English, both socially and in business.

-Gateway to Europe: Lisbon Airport is 20 minutes from the center of town, and Lisbon is within 3 hours from Rome, Paris, London, etc.

-Climate Progressive: Portugal aims to generate 85% of its annual electricity usage from renewable sources by 2030!

-Community & Ease of Integration: This is an expat city. It's small, walkable and easy to build community, whether it’s a mom’s group, writing circles, wellness gatherings, etc. People are eager to connect. There are numerous services run by locals and expats that help guide your move.

-Weather: Sunny, beachy weather year-round. The California of Europe.
