🐝Have you checked out our NEW WEBSITE!🐝

As we grow as an organisation, we really want to make sure that we’re bringing our supporters along with us, and continue to create ways for our community to engage with what we’re up to.

Re-vamping our website has been a big part of this, and we are some grateful to be able to do it with elite level support from @tekfoundation_ and, and long time collaborator @katehowarthdigital .

⌨️Tekfoundation is a Not For Profit that connects tech professionals with for-purpose organisation who need specific skills for a project they want to pull off. We are so grateful to Joni, Lucia, Mohammed, Cheryl and the team for all the incredible work they have done to bring this project to life!

✨Kate Howarth has been with us since the early days, and along with the Tekfoundation crew, and with some amazing photography from local legend Davey Rogers 📸, have put together an amazing website, which not only shares our story and provides opportunities for people to connect with us, but also allows us to run an online shopping platform, as well as a range of other cool features.

🌱If you haven’t already, check it out via the link in bio, and let us know what you think!

Joni’s trip to Melbourne is off to a great start!

Tonight she caught up over dinner with two legends, Heath Gilham and Stewart McMillan, the co-founders of @creativebytesnfp 🚀

tekFoundation had the great opportunity to source volunteer learning development managers for Creative Bytes as demand grows for their successful programs teaching STEM to young learners in remote and regional Australia 🙌🏼

These two are some of the most positive, hard working and encouraging individuals you’ll meet in the sector. Wishing them both all the success in the world and safe travels to WA for their next program rollout!

Over a year ago we set a goal to have @tekfoundation_ registered as an official charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission - as of this week we are so proud to have achieved that goal!!

This would not have been possible without the support, connections and expertise of the individuals that helped us get there; thank you to Simone Murad and @businessdepot , Mike Gore and Jocelyn Goto from @charitabl.app , Keith Rovers, Nashita Khan, Lilit M., and Lucy Greenwood from @minterellison , and the tekFoundation board Lucy Timms, Dr Robert Winter, and Aidan Beanland.

Thank you for believing in our vision to create opportunities for small charities in Australia to access the tech and expertise they deserve 🩷 💚

What a way to wrap up 2024! 🎉

Your tekFoundation co-founders,
@j0nimiche11e and @nicksheps_

We did it! @tekfinder has officially joined the Pledge 1% Movement!

@pledge1percent is a global movement of over 18,000 members that inspires, educates, and empowers companies to be a force for good.

By becoming a Pledge 1% member, it not only formalises our commitment to social responsibility through funding the launch of @tekfoundation_ but also joins a global community of change-makers dedicated to giving back.

Since its inception, tekFoundation has successfully assisted 25 different charities across Australia in finding volunteers for various tech initiatives.

Future plans include mentorship programs to upskill charities, assisting students and recent grads to grow professionally; and to support those skilled in tech but facing barriers to entering the job market.

Our commitment to social impact is stronger than ever, join us on this journey as we strive to make a lasting difference through recruitment!

@tekfoundation_ Strategy Day! We are days away from officially appointing the board of directors and incorporating as a not for profit 🎉

The group all met in person for the first time last week at the @tekfinder offices 🙌🏼 We had a blast sharing ideas big and small and navigating what comes next on this exciting journey.

Have you ever wondered about the impact of combining professional skills with social impact? 🤝

Maybe you’ve never donated cash to charity, but could donate some of your time & skills?

That's exactly what skills-based volunteering is all about! Whether you're in marketing, tech, financial or just have some great ideas your skills are valuable!

Not sure how to get started? Try to connect with a cause- find a nonprofit or organization aligned with your values and goals or reach out to tekFoundation- The goal of tekFoundation is to connect charities, youth clubs, and other not-for-profits with tech professionals that can portion some of their skills & expertise for free!

The great thing about skills-based volunteering is its' win-win situation. You contribute to a cause you're passionate about, while organizations benefit from your specialized knowledge. It's truly a powerful way to make a meaningful impact and showcase the positive force of collaboration!

Skills-based volunteering is also a perfect avenue for those who want to contribute to meaningful causes but may not have the financial resources. Your skills and expertise can be just as valuable!

Get in touch with Joni Fleischer, our head of tekFoundation to see where you can make a difference. 🫶🏻

🕺🏼💃🏼Volunteer work could help you stand out from the crowd!

As you navigate the job market, remember to talk about your volunteer work, both in your cover letter and during job interviews.

Here’s why:

➡️ Volunteer work showcases your character, skills, and commitment. Employers appreciate candidates with a sense of community. If you’ve volunteered your skills, it could be also be a portfolio piece. Share your passion for the project and how it has helped you grow and level up.

➡️ When you are in an interview, don’t hesitate to bring up your volunteer experiences. Talk about the impact these experiences have had on your professional growth and what you learned from the experience. This provides insight into your values and work ethic. Tailor your conversations about volunteer work to align with the values of the company you’re interviewing with.

This personalized touch can make a lasting impression ✨

If you don’t have any volunteer work on your resume and you are keen to give back to the community with your skills and expertise, then check out what opportunities are available at tekFoundation or alternatively reach out to Joni Fleischer.
