#latergram Had a great time at the @womeninmediainc Reel Forward Production Conference. Learned about the updates in CA tax credits from @filmcalifornia @leahcalifornia and won this nifty book from @the__asc about their first 100 years. Also heard from local politicians about potential changes coming to the U.S. and CA for our industry. Fingers crossed 🤞! #filmmaking #film #director #writer

Join us for a very special seminar during the Reel/Forward Production Conference!

Virtual production specialist Katerina Munis will demystify virtual production and illuminate how emerging technology can support storytelling, performance, and a bolder artistic vision. She’ll break down when using an LED volume makes sense and when it doesn’t, helping filmmakers maximize their creative potential and resources for a successful shoot. You’ll explore the virtual production workflow, 2D versus 3D environments, and unique considerations for each film department. She will also explain the basics of LED Volumes, gaming technology, and the talented world-building teams behind this process.

ABOUT KATERINA
Katerina Munis is an award-winning writer/director and virtual production specialist. She served as Director of Productions for XR Stages, an immersive LED volume studio that supported virtual production film, television, and new media for HBO, Lionsgate, Apple TV+, and Netflix. Most recently, Katerina’s work has been recognized by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO Studios Foundation, McKnight Media Arts Foundation, the TELLYS, and the Academy Awards Nicholl fellowship.

When people talk about horror, women are still too often recognized as the faces of fear, not the people creating it.

Women are writing horror, directing it, producing it, shooting it, editing it, designing it, and building the worlds that stay with us long after the credits roll. Mary Lambert directed Pet Sematary. Karyn Kusama directed Jennifer’s Body. Jennifer Kent wrote and directed The Babadook. Coralie Fargeat wrote, directed, produced, and edited The Substance.

They are not exceptions to horror’s creative legacy. They are part of its foundation.

The Scythe Award, presented with @womeninfilm and @womeninmediainc celebrates the women making horror at every level and brings attention to the voices, visions, and work that deserve to be seen.
