One week since the @buildingbeyondyou Conference by Mrs. @taradurotoye, and I haven’t recovered from all that was poured into us. It was absolutely worth it! Here are some of my major takeaways:

🚀Build a legacy that outlives you.
I started asking myself some very important questions; Am I actually building something that outlives me?
What will my legacy be in the next couple of years? I think this is one question I constantly ask myself because it keeps me in check.

I may not be there yet, but at the very least, I should have laid my foundation and daily pile the stones, one day at a time. This guides the daily decisions I make and keeps me grounded.

🚀Succession planning: This was a table-shattering moment for me because I used to believe that being indispensable within your organization makes you more valuable. But Mrs. Tara had a different perspective that completely transformed the way I see succession planning and I agree with her.

In her words, “Do away with indispensability in your organization.” Every skill and talent must be transferable, and at every level of your business, there must be a successor.
Who is your next within your organisation? How much have you poured into that person? That’s probably a question we all need to answer.

Ohhh, then we had the Open Boardroom with Mrs @ibukunawosika, and what an eye-opening session!

Slide 2: It was awesome meeting the amazing Presidential Host herself in person! She was so kind and gracious to me. ❤️
Hiiiii @temi_badru🥰

I’m so grateful to my boss @lindakilson for this great opportunity, and to the organizers of the Building Beyond You Conference. @buildingbeyondyou

To my future self, this is us laying the foundation and building for a future that will outlive us.

Toodles!

One of the sweetest moments from the Building Beyond You Conference hosted by the delectable@taradurotoye was meeting @temi_badru in person. We have only known each other online, but I have always loved her spirit and a fan of her work, so meeting her at the BBY CONFERENCE was such a delight!

It was Joy at FIRST SIGHT 🤩 we couldn’t just meet and leave the room without celebrating one another! It was so organic and unrehearsed 🥳💃🥳

Such a delight to meet you Temi, here’s to taking on stages and cities 🎤

A couple of days ago, I had the privilege of attending the Building Beyond You Conference hosted by the delectable @taradurotoye , and truly, it was everything the name promised.

Beyond the incredible people I met @adeolatkd @funmicoconuts @temi_badru @thechristinasho (na you biko) and the panel conversations that lit up my heart , one session that stayed with me was Mr Fola Adeola, co-founder of GTBank @gtbank , when he spoke about consistency, commercial discipline and the power of staying the course. A keyword he mentioned during his session was the word : SINCE

Since is no longer just a word to me again, SINCE is the power of staying….
Staying through the uncertainty.
Staying through the stretching.
Staying when the results are taking longer than expected
Staying because you know there is something ahead worth building.

And that my FBC TRIBE is what Building Beyond You really means reaching beyond where you are, beyond what you have known, and beyond yourself, whatever that looks like.
I left that conference reminded that sometimes, the greatest thing we can do is simply stay. Because what we are building may be bigger than what we can see today.

16 years of JA Africa COY. Still more than pitches.

This year marks the 16th Company of the Year Competition, and JA Africa is bringing it to Cape Town, South Africa.

Every year, students from across the continent come together to pitch, compete, and show the world what young African entrepreneurs can build. But if you've ever been in the room, you know it's more than that. It's the CEO of JA Africa, Simi Nwogugu (@favoredsn), on her feet, dancing. Partners, board members, and JA friends joining the celebration. Staff bringing their own energy to the stage. Students marking every win, big or small, in their own way.

Sixteen years in, JA Africa COY is still where the hardest work and the warmest moments happen together.

This is the energy heading to Cape Town. Follow along.
